flowering period

does anybody
know how long the
flowering period is
for a hindu skunk and purple
kush? im on day 40 right
now and 25% of the hairs
are orange or a light amber

When you bought the clones/seeds, wasn't there an estimate on the flowering period? I would guess around 8 weeks, if the pistils are turning already. Also, you might want to check for a hidden hermie, because the pistils will turn brown early if they get pollinated. I had that happen last run, but got lucky because only 2 plants got pollinated out of 8 of them. I still don't know how the hell that happened, because they were all packed together touching each other, with a fan blowing on them constantly. Hmm......I guess I was lucky? lol

Anyway...the only way to know for sure, is to keep an eye on the trichs and wait for them to start turning amber.(10%+) Then you'll know they are finished for sure.

If your hairs are 25% turned by week 5 and 3 days, your looking good. Your strains are probably 8-9 weeks strains, I'd wait 65-67 days before you cut, Sometimes your plants will finish a week faster depending on growing conditions,c02. Wait till 80% of the hairs are turned orange/redish,you have amber and white crystals, and they look ready. Never pull your plants early,wastes quality and weight. STay up Oregon. Smoke joints. Dont leagalize Marijuana.

i got a purple kush ima pick tmrw or the next day..and it will be either 59 or 60 days, its suppose to be 50-65days..i also got a hindu skunk in veg and its suppose to be a 8-9 weeker so 56-65 days id say..great choices on strains by the way

exactamundo! orange hair color could be a pheno-type of the strain. trichome color is the only way to tell for sure!
(and no, i don't think most folks read diddly before asking.)

When the hairs turn color it basically means the plant is dying and at it's most mature time in it's life,who wants to smoke bud with all white hairs? Not me!!! I dont like burning that premo noobs. ^^^bologna!!^^^ i've lived in oregon, too expensive.... do some reading on the word phenotype, oregon! a better indicator of the plant nearing the end of it's life cycle is yellowing off, oregon. i've had plants start the hairs yellowing in 3 weeks of flowering. but, the only way to tell for sure when a plant is ready to harvest is trichome color.

Maybe you noobs should stop with the reading and do some actuall growing,lol. It's not all about the reading it's experience and I have it. Trich's isn't the only way to tell your plants are ready the hairs also tell you. Week 3 yellowing hairs? All your doing is picking up what someone else said,you need some experience then you'll understand. I check the hairs and the trich's for optimal pulling time,not just the triches,and not just the hairs,like I stated in the first post. In your opinion what percnt amber do u try to see before harvest?

well smoke, you may get high smoking pistils, but i don't. i don't know what you consider a noob, but unless you've been growing double digit years, up shut! i don't mind arguing every now and then. especially if someone sees it and figures out you (as in you, ore-gone) are talkin out of your BVD's. it's o.k., everyone steps in it every now and then. just wipe the poop off and keep going. i think i'll get my trim out of the freezer, wipe all of those nasty trichomes off of the pistils, and smoke em. maybe i can use some bubble bags to get rid of those trichomes and make some nice pistil hash! you're an idiot....
