flowering cuttings for sex?

I've read about flowering a cutting for sex. Just take a cutting from a plant over 6 weeks, drop it in water, place in 12/12 and wait. it should flower. Hmmm. Shouldn't the cutting like, I don't know, DROWN? I suppose I could treat it like a clone cutting in a peat pot but I don't care if it roots... Anyone done this? I have a plant I'd like to start using as a mommy but I'd rather not take the whole plant to flower and then back to veg to sex it. Needless to say I don't want to clone off a bunch of boys. Evil clone army. So, what is the best way to flower a cutting? Thanks.

well you are going to want the clone if it turns out to be female.so if you don't dip it in a cloning solution then youwill not have the clone to grow again to keep your strain going.

I'm planning to keep this plant for another 3 to 4 weeks before I want to take the clones but she's old enough to sex so I'd rather not keep it if it's male.

if its cutabale the cut nowdon't waist any more time on a potintial male. then this way if its a female then you can veg the big girl longer and then cut more clone if youwant to. no youwill know what itis.

people do this all the time , u know how chicks get flowers from there partners and them dump them into a vase halffull of water? well thats in hope that the flowers would eventually devolop some roots , it is a pretty shitty way to get a cutting. also they willnot drown if u change out the water every 2 days or so because water holds oxygen
