flowering confused

so i have read some different post about flowering... and they seem a little mixed... does flowering begin when the light hours start to decrease or when the light hours get to 12/12, i know that indoors 12/12 is forced flowering, but since i put them outdoors 3 males have already showen.' these are the 5 i have started with 8 and 3 males have showen

it will start to show small pre flowers while the light starts to get shorter, but wont be completely flowering until 12/12 starts.
You can determine sex during this time!

get rid of the males ASAP!

Also they will show signs of preflower before they're into flowering, but wont actually bud until 12 hours of darkness.

Wrong! They will start to bud when the days start getting shorter after june 22, usually near the end of july early aug. Where I grow in Mi., they start to show end of july & are ripe early oct. It's 14.5/9.5 when they start to bud & 12/12 when they are at max ripeness.

thanks... what lat are you in MI... i am at 43 in SD have you had frost issues in MI durring your oct harvest.

You should have sexed them first. KEEP SMOKE ALIVE!!

Out of my 8 plants 5 are showing female pre-flowers:-) This is gonna be a good summer:-) That's if the bugs don't eat the shit out of em..................
