Lol nah I'm not that well off bro only pics I've got atm
Sorry but that's not safe at all. Blasting butane indoors and not vac purging is the perfect example of a terrible and extremely dangerous process!! Please stop!

This is a major reason I do alcohol extracts not butane!! Way lower risks and much safer. Alcohol should purge at natural atmosphere and shouldn't need a vac purge either.

Diggs have fun with your extraction. I'm very confident that if you follow my tutorial as close as possible you will get a great product to start. Once you have the basic concepts down, try some experiments too. That's how I got a process I like.

Thanks, i dont think ill have much issue, your step by step is pretty easy to follow

i did have a question tho about texture, i am looking for more of a thinner finished product than it appears you end up with. Around here oil is spread on papers and filled with weed/tobacco and smoked. Weird right? lol

Im not really looking for the shatter like finish.

So what do i have to do differently than you to achieve this?

You know I'm not completely sure. The texture of the extracts is something I haven't tried to manipulate much. However I have noticed that some times, the same material will change texture at different times of years. I think it has to do with RH, ambient temps, and maybe even barometric pressure but I don't know specifics sadly. I do think what you want can be achieved by the right amounts is heat, but I've generally avoided that to retain terpenes.

It would be a great experiment to run and try to figure the different textures. I've just never bothered.

Another option if you want to add it to joints, would be leaving it as a crystal an not compressing it together into a slab. I do this all the time. Sometimes for this reason it makes it easy to sprinkle down a blunt. Sometimes I leave it as crystal just because I'm being lazy and it still works the same just looks different.

Oh I'm guessing you didn't see the extractor fans out side the pic well don't be so quick to judge, Im used to using iso myself but I've never had the equipment avaliable for vacume purging (I'd love to tho) but that's where there's the cost as for the oil that's how it's been taught over here you can complain and whinge about it but that's a way of life for many health risks or not, we're still far from legalisation so till then that's how this is done here,in your iso oil what colour did it come out my iso is usually gold with a slight green tinge guessing the chlorophyll that's washed through

I just watched a youtube video of a guy doing qwiso , the only difference to his method and yours seems to be heat when cooking it, he used a little more heat and it cooked quicker maybe?

when his was done, it was golden/ amber and he could suck it up with a syringe, thats what im going for.

Another guy i watched used ethanol, his method seemed the same as yours aswell, only he used a water distiller to separate the alcohol and be able to reuse it , his end product was also the texture im going for.

its a 5min video if anyone wanted to give it a watch.

Heat will definitely make it evap faster, and I think heat might be the biggest key to changing the texture. The process I go through isn't something I came up with. It's just culmination of trying different things others suggested :).

I'm not trying to be rude, or anything but concerned for your well being. Good luck to you if you want to continue with butane that way.

My a grade qwiso turns out golden and delicious, b grade has a slight green tint, c grade is pretty green.

Hey @Thundercat

91 or 99% ISO

Is there a preference?

I went to grab some and they had both lol, wanted to make sure before I bought it
Anything over 90% works just fine. If you can get 99 and it's not crazy expensive use that. I used to use 99%, but they stopped selling it in my state at regular stores. I've been using 91% for years now though and t works great still!

Thanks bud, appreciate it.

Just for clarification, brand name dont matter right? as long as its not denatured?

Planning to run 2 ozs, how many bottles approximately would i need?

Brand doesn't matter as long as it is just plain isopropyl.

Do you have the material in jars yet? I never weight my material. I fill the quart jars about 3/4 full of material. I use almost a whole quart for the first wash and about a half a quart for each additional wash. So roughly 2 quarts or alcohol per jar of material.

No, i trimmed it all and then put it in the freezer in a bag

I kept all of the real nice tops for smoking, they are jarred, this is all the other stuff.

I will do as you say tho when i make it, fill the jars 3/4 for wash

I typically fill them before I freeze them so the jars are all ice cold too :). You want everything cold. When I shake the jars I typically hold them with a towel to reduce how much my hands warm it all.

ahh i never considered freezing jars and all lol

ill put it in jars right now. , how long you freezing your product for? i wont be getting the iso until tomorrow, hoping to make the oil friday

I freeze everything at least over night. This includes the jars with material in them and the ISO. The rest of the stuff won't matter.

This first run will be a learning experiance. The little things just help improve quality.

Ethanol is more selective at pulling cannabinoids if you operate hotter than -60c or so. Which it sounds like you will be doing. If you aren't going to distillate then qwet is a little more forgiving. It doesn't need to be 100 percent purged to not be poisonous. But if you are certain you can purge it correctly then iso is fine. Also an azeotropic iso/h2o solution will be best. What is your goal for the qwiso? Dabbing?

Have fun buddy! Take pictures of the wash when your done. The color of the wash will tell a lot about the result.

Ya I have a case of everclear coming to me, bu my bro who's bringing it won't be here until July for vacation. Can't legally buy it in my province

So I'm gonna do a fun runs with ISO to get familiar and have some fun.

We mainly use the oil in syringes to load capsules as medicine.

We also love spreading spliffs with it as seen below
