  • Hey there guys im new to growing. Its my first plant, shes a nothernligh x big bud autoflower feminized. Shes 5 weeks old and looked very healthy until a couple days ago. Some things you should know about my grow: Its a closet grow and not very high tech. i have a desk ventilator blowing air out from the back of the closet and an oscillating fan blowing at the plant. (closet shelf isnt big enough to blow over the plant). I have a 30 watt cfl (they say its as strong as 132 watt). I use fertilizer that has like a 10-6-4 (not quite sure forgot) and its the fertilizer that you put onto the soil and when you water it it dilutes. (youll see in the picture). Shes starting to turn brown on the top and the bottom leafs arent looking healthy either. Top: it has a little purple too (but i think thats part of the indica strain) Bottom: some leafs are like really bright green, some are tried out, and a couple have rips in the leafs. Please give me some advice!!! Id really appreciate it and the more detailed the answer the better. Also the stems where the second and third bud (i think) from the top are lokated have gotten really thin. They used to be thick and strong but now it looks like somebody pinched them really hard.

Please give me some advice. I READ EVERYTHING !! no matter how long so the more the better. hope you can help me i really need it.

It def not burns, the bottom leaves will die because of lack of light, but the fan blowing rirectly on the plants will stress her out..you don't want that close to flowering! And you may also need more light for flowering. I'm no real expert at this, but I've read that when you get something like this it helps to flush the plant and then not to water it for a while

youre light distance
i know it may seem a lot. i just realy wont to help you as she looks like she ha ahd some tlc and looks good. also youre pots there 10. 15 liters just carnt tell from the angle

Ill try to answer your questions as best as i can unfortunately though my grow closet isnt that high tech. (im moving soon so i didnt wanna set up something high tech). For temp idk its normal room temperature i live on the north side so i dont get direct sunlight so its prbly on the low end of room temperature. I used normal gardening soil with perlite. for water i use normal tap water (like i said not that hightech). i started feeding the nutes 2 weeks ago and put the nutes every two days on top of the soil. I water once a day (if water is still on the bottom i dont water). light distance is prbly around 3 inches. and its a 10 liter pot. for the npk level i dont know bc i got the nutes from a friend. hoped this helped, if you have more questions please ask.

same here im thinking that fans so close with high temps and maybe a slight over fert and watering might bee in there to. not sure till ops can awnser them q

right first of all. you must now youre temps with a fan that close. cuase youre casiung strees. that sort of moisture stress will dry youre leafs out and cause wind burns turn the fan down and have it on the spin setting. you have to know them temps in there as youre not exchanging air. leave that door open if u can
stop feeding the nutes for a week she how she reacts. you have to wait 3 to 4 days to see any inprovenmt dont think its instant. and back of the watering. let you're water sit over night for 24 hours at room temps. cold water will shock her. whats the ph of the water. try watering/let dry/ let dry. then check and 10 liters pots i d say would be good after 2 day dry time to let youre soil dry between the watering. u can pick up the pot and feel its weight that way. water when it light. or poke youre finger in a good inch. also you need to know what youre nkp of them nutes are. what you going to do once you going in full flowering. as she showing sings of her sex. every 2 days nutes for soil i veg is way to much also way to soon. try once a week. onc e you hit full flowering try 2. watch youre plant she tell you. also you're soil type its important.for knowing when to strat feeding. watering for veg only is normally a good cal. but i grow in coco so im no 100 percent up this
youre ph and temps and nutes find out also youre light i dont think it enough for flowering. i grow under hps but there is many clf experts about who can help

but its only a 30 watt cfl. can that really cause heat stress? ( the brown spots are only on top) so if its heatstress id be guessing from the lamp and not the entire room temperature?

the brown spots good be a few thing. which i not 100 percent on till we know youre soil temps ph. water isat in trays drowning and suffocation of roots causing roots problems. its a constant biuld up of the same air benn in the room with even that little clf then pushed on youre plants all day. plus you need the gasses from fresh air. might be might be not. till we know youre temps. you carnt guess my friend

first off never use that type of fertilizer growing mary j. You cannot flush as it will just release more nutrients into the soil and it lowers the ph a lot fromt he salts it contains. Second, the NPK ratio is wrong for flowering. 3rd you need to add 10x the light as what you have to have even a minimal harvest. Sounds to me like you have nutrient burn which is lowering your ph which in turn locked out certain elements. That can cause many problems from spots on leaves, to leaf damage to death of the plant if not fixed fast. When the plant can't get the nutrients it needs because of lockout it starts to take what it needs from the leaves. I would scoop all that fertilizer from the top of your soil and as long as there is none buried in the soil I would then flush and put it on a proper bloom nute with very little nitrogen in it. You need to first think about spending more money on lights. You need a good amount of light overhead for flowering. That lonely cfl just won't cut it....happy growing :)

To add to my post....all of the factors I mentioned along with the way you are watering is no good. First you want to make sure you let the tap water sit out for 48 hours in a bucket to evaporate the chlorine out. Then you have to make sure the ph of the water is betwen 6.5-7. You want to water until water runs out of the bottom then leave it be until the soil is dry and no more. Lift the pot and if it is very light...it needs water, if it seems heavier than very light, wait until the leaves just start to sag before you water, trust me your not hurting your plant this way. Its just its way of saying "im thristy". You dont want it sitting in a tray of water, you will get root rot that way and a host of other problems. You are also feeding that stuff to it wayyyy to often. That combined with high temps and too much air flow will cause it to die before you get to the end.

hey guys thanks for the help. Heres an update on how my plants doing. The top leaves started to dry out now and are still brown. I took the temperature and its about 75 degrees at the bottom. I scraped off all the nutrients as good as possible (but i still think that they are deeper in the soil). I havent watered since and the soil is still pretty moist. I have prepared a bucket of water to vaporize the chlorine. I was planing on flushing my plant in 2 days (or when ever the soil is dry). but i was wondering if thats a good idea if the plant has been overwatered? any advice? if i flush it could release more nutes and if i dont the next time i water i have the same problem. I dont have the ph of the water or soil, sorry dont have the equipent.

Also i was wondering if pruning my plant now would be good bc that will cause the plant to waist less energy on the bottom leafs. But i read that pruning stresses the plant and i dont wanna stress my plant even more. Please help.

here some pics on how shes doing: IMG_0823.jpgIMG_0824.jpgIMG_0825.jpgIMG_0826.jpg

Overwatering for sure and too much nutes. If you just put that stuff on top and water it in every time you water your pushing more nutes down and she can't handle that much.

your lights are to close to the top of the canopy and it looks like your humidity is low
and any light can do this if its to close and low airflow over the canopy will make this worse
as the temp goes up the humidity goes down
