First MMJ CFL Grow

Clones or seeds- Clones - 1 OG kush, 1 Purple Erkle, 1 AK-47 and 2 Grape Apes
Veg start date- 4-1-2010
Veg length- 5 week s for OG and PE, 2 weeks for AK and GA's (want to see dif.)
Lights- 12 23w 2700k- 19,200 human lum. 13,340 PGL
2 27w 5600k-3,500 human lum about 2,450 pgl all within 2"-4" of plant
Grow Space- 24"x24"x32" home made box with 2 intake and 2
Exhaust fans 5 inches each white plastic sheeting for reflection. coke cans cut in half for reflecters
Flowering start date- 5-16-2010
Nuts' - FoxFarm Big Bloom, Tiger Bloom, Grow Big every other watering.
Watering- as needed- soil dry two inches down
Avg. Temp.- 75f-78F with lights on 70f-72f with lights off
Humidity- 30-35%

So I am on my 3rd week of flower now with 1 OG Kush plant, 1 AK-47, 2 Grape Apes and a Purple Erkle... lots of pics to follow... both gf and I have MMJR paperwork and are within CO's 3 veg 3 flow per patient. just incase u wanted to know... my main questions have to do with trimming. I have done countless hours of research trying to find a good guide. with all the LST (Low stress training) I have done my plants are only about 8-10 inches off the ground.... but with a 5 week veg the bud sites are intense. Now that I am flowering I don't want to stress them at all if possible so the plants got back to natures way and are growing UP. I have 32 inches to the top of my box and could add about 2 feet but would prefer to keep them short as possible. Now with that said, I have noticed that what I think are the fan leafs are starting to cover the bud sites. is this ok... should I cut them off? my only prob with that is the leafs are sprouting at the other bud sites. will this slow the developing bud if I cut the leaf off? I have been told it is ok to cut up to 10% of the leafs off at a time about once a week and have been doing a little less but i could really use a little help here

never cut the leafs just move them down tie the bend the just don't cut them next time maybe think of a bigger box of less plants hope this helps

any one else... i have been told not at all, only 10%, if it is covering a bud site..... just want the best i can get and if i understood how the plant grows it would make it much better. do the flowers absorbe enough light or do they need the leafs to survive.... is direct light better then the power of the leaf?

It has been a long time and I am sorry for that.... but about day 40 and doing well. I added 2 more 23 w cfls. Not alot more has changed other then the flowers are about 4x the size they were 10 days ago. I put up some new pics so feel free to check them out. Started to get a little yellowing so i was told to add grow big back into the mix at 50%. only been about 3 days since and not a big dif but yellowing is not progressing so only time will tell. If you think it might be something different let me know. So close to the end i dont want the girls to take a dive...

LEAVES BUILD FOOD FOR PRODUCTION OF FLOWERS SO DO NOT TRIM THEM!!!!

Looks like n def but let your plants go a bit longer before you do anything else... Is it spreading? I believe you said it wasn't getting worse and so then you corrected it as the green will not come back just no more yellowing will occur and the green will look better. KEEP 'EM GREEN!!

That bud in the third pic looks fat..+rep. and i agree with^^^ if a leaf has no more to offer the plant know what to do... gud luck!

It is about the size of a ax spray can... But I am still getting yellowing so i guess just take it day by day... I will be pissed if they go under now!

So I wrote this big old recap of the past few days and what has happend (nothing too tragic) this morning and come to find out it didn't post so if this shows up twice I do apologize.

Here we go. I will start with the OG Kush- SHE IS GROWING UP!!!! about 15 inches tall and 9 of it is flowers packed tip to tip... i can't even see much of the stem now.... She is on day 45ish (44 or 45) of flower. I guess it is common for the leaves to turn yellow towards the end and i have stopped it for now by giving her 1.5x Grow big for weeks 6-7(about 3tsp/gal every other day) I was informed that i might encounter nutes lockup and if I do to flush it, but i just did my flush two days ago (no more yellow befor that) and am not sure if it is ok to have them that close together.... if i need it. Any ideas?

Now to the Purple Erkle- I LOVE her!!!! My new avatar is that girl!!! She is about 16-17" tall and covered with flowers too... not quiet as dense, but much fatter!!!! And the smell! Prob can tell i am really excited! Nothing new going on with her . She just keeps blowing me away! Also on day 45ish of flower alot more red hairs then the og or others and i guess that is also common.

The AK-47, and two Grape Apes------ Looking great all have about 10 top flowers and about 12 inches tall... they are about 10 days behind the OG and PE....

I added another 3 lights so I have just over 400w running and I know...... I would love to use HPS and MH, but they get way too hot for my space right now so i will stick to the CFL's for now. I must say I really Do think they ROCK.... never thought they would grow as well as they do.

I will have to add pics later (Thought i already did). If you know of any tricks to add weight to your nugs( Fill them out more while they are still growing)please let me know. I was told i should get about 1 to 1 1/2 oz per plant and would really like to get that up to 2 if it is not too late...

Thanks for taking the time to follow and please respond.... I already use molasses and FoxFarm Line.... have seen some results from Hesi line ( Other grows in person), but not sure if i am that advanced yet.

About 11 days to finish the 60 days of flower!!!! They all look like they are doing well... still got yellowing of the lower leaves and they are falling off but not too worried about it. I am starting to look at strains for next grow and i am def. going to do a SOG meth..... Any sugestions!! I am also considering using my entire closet with the same amount of plants and allowing them to grow larger. Adding more light as they grow up. Which do you think would allow for more yeald? Here are the pics i took this morning... first one and last one are the Purple Erkle, 2nd and 3rd is OG Kush. Speaking of which, any idea on when the hairs start to turn with og? They are covered with sugar but still lots of white hairs?

So day 52 and we are rocking along!! Took some new pics of the OG Kush (pic 1), Purple Erkle (2) and the AK-47 (3).TH main colas on the OG Kust total 11, all about 13 inches of pure flowers!!! I put a string around one of the smaller ones and it was about 7 inches so hope they get a little larger and everyone is telling me they will. We will see. As for my personal fav, Purple Erkle is developing alot more. She has 14 arms and 13 little under shooters that might equal up to be about a quarter. She stands about 17 inches tall. The tops of the colas have not gotten much larger (although very developed) but the undergrowth is exploding. My guy says that it will be about day 60 when they will be ready. She is about 20-25% amber! I love her. THe AK is doing very, very nice. She has about 10 top colas and 1 main that grows about 4 inches above the rest (need to work on getting a more even canopy). They are about 20-25days from harvest I think. Anyway if anyone knows about ways to boost yeald while growing( something different) please let me know.

Still keep up the nitrogen and dont let leaves fall...also lower the P until 1 week before harvest then hit 'em with a good spike
Hold off on harvesting and planning the next grow...concentrate on finishing this one correctly...do NOT be quick to chop...most thc becomes mature in the final stage of flowering and that is the stuff we want right? So let them fill up and swell and the pistils begin to draw in...if you have a scope or anything which allows you to see the trichs well enough then look for 30-70 % amber trichs depending on your preference as this a more accurate guide...BUT DO NOT RUSH TO CUT...a mistake most of us make

I took a fun pick and wanted to add it so here it is... 54 days in...

As for Chop Chop: it will wait til wed or friday (or longer if needed) got a microscope and trichs are at about 30%-40% and was told by a friend of mine who just chopped his down (about a week ago) to wait til it is a solid 50%.

So i have a question... if you use the same strain from same mother and grow one to be abot 2 feet tall and grow one to be 6 feet tall, would the 2 foot tall plant take less time to finish flowering or more time? Or would it be about the same, if you started to flower at same time.

It depends on what kind of high you want when u should harvest. If ur lookin for more of an energetic high, then cut them when the trichs are 50% or less amber. You will get more of a couchlock stone if you let it go longer. So it just depends on what ur preference is.

I think I have a good grasp on that, so say I wanted them both to be about 50% right, in thought, they would be done around the same time, or close to right. Size of the plant is not directly related to grow length

so no chop chop yet... have to wait another three days i guess....
