i was wondering how long should i wait to turn on the 12/12 cycle for flowering, and if i should top, prune or anything of that nature???

o and jw,is there anyway that this can turn out as just one cola with very little branches or no branches and if so wat do i do?

like this

It sure looks nice & healthy. That is up to you as far as how soon to go to 12/12. Some folks go to 12/12 from seed but the plant will not start to flower until it is mature. I have found that it happens when the plant starts alternating nodes.

Fromk those pics, you can't see any preflowers to distinguish the sex. But, they look a little young yet, so it's probably a little early for that. Topping, is growers proference. If you want the plant to split in two, you should top them now, and they'll be more bushy. Then wait a week or so and top them again, if you want 4 main colas, and so on and so forth. If you want small straight plants with one main cola, leave them alone(don't top them), and put them on 12/12 when they get a little bigger. You could do it right now if you wanted to, but i would wait til the fill out a little more(I would also top them at least once, probably 2 or 3 times).

What are you hoping for? Do you want two short bushy plants? Two smaller straight plants? Two giant bushy monsters? Etc...?

It depends on how large you want them to get but i would personally wait till they are 7-8 weeks old to flip the light to 12/12 and in a week you should see if their sex. I only prune the lower branches as they make little buds and hinder air flow. Topping the plant will cause 2 tops to grow... and cutting them will cause 4 to grow etc... this stresses the plant and will stunt its growth a little. Only do it up to a week before inducing flowering tho. Check out bending... https://www.rollitup.org/view.php?pg=faq&cmd=article&id=606

good luck. read up! (look in FAQ'S)

um i would rather have small straight with one main cola since this is my first grow and im not really trying to get a big yield anytime soon cuz i dont have alot of room yet.i keep reading everywhere its best to see it go through its life cycle to understand it better.o and it did have a bad case of mites that killed all of my crop except that trooper lol.it was covered in them but never got any holes or discoloration.and i used a spray bottle with 50% alcohol in it and it worked perfect for it:-P

if ur only growing one plant then really the only area issue ur gaunna have is height, when u change from vegging to flowering(12/12) then whatever height ur plant is remember it can double or even treble. personally i follow the same routine. i grow from seed and for the first two weeks i give them 24/0 under 2 x 55watt fluros, then i change to 18/6 for 4 or 5 weeks under 400mh and 600 hps after that its 12/12 under 1000hps. i grow between 5 and 6 plant in a tent (4' x 4' x 6.5') and i grow in soil with boi bizz nutes. pretty much old school organics, very little hassle.

o the height isnt really a problem cuz i can move my light up.i would have more of a problem with it gettin too bushy but i still dont want it to be too tall.

just change to flower when it suits u ,if u switch at say 18" then it will be at least 3' but possible 4.5'. as for bushiness just prune and trim it . some people HATE the idea of pulling leafs off but i dont bother my arse, if it needs it it needs it, simple as that, there are various techniques to do it, just surf around and find one but whatever way you decide remember to take it easy. if it does appear to be getting too tall u could just l.s.t it. i personally dont trim or prune much until im quite far into flowering in order that light hits the lower buds and leafs. sup to you buddy.

When you move your light up, the lower branches recieve petty light. this is why its efficient to keep short plants. many colas are better than 1 cola and some little buds. just my opinion.
