First Grow: Week 5 into Flowering How's she looking?

That's one thing I learned for my next grow. I originally had one 26W on the plant 24/0 which was at least a good 2-3 feet away from the plant. Since signing up here & looking at info I've found out this is exactly what not to do lol. Next grow will have the lights much closer to the plant!

ya a 42 watter could be good for the top, but just adding another 20 or 26 watt light would be the same if not better. Your plant is F-ing lanky bra! Is that a Sativa??? If that's an indica it's trying to stretch because there's no light at the bottom. It's like your pulling the sun further and further away, and the plant is trying to reach up to it. Buy a few more reflectors and and even 13 watt bulbs to place down on those lower buds. You'll recoup the extra cash in more bud, and next time your plant wont stretch to the moon and back.

can't speak to the 42w that much, been using 26w in my grow, but here a latest stat on ge bulbs
the ge 42w list its initial lumens as 2700 for about 64 lumens per watt
the newer 26w ge cfl's are listing the initial lumens as 1750 lumens for about 67 lumens per watt
not a big difference, but when you consider how much cheaper 26w bulbs are, and they are a bit brighter per watt, it does make them pretty attractive for the economy micro grower

Ya I've been wondering about that too, I used 42 watters last grown and got pretty good results. Although i heard 26 watts is more efficient so I'm trying more of those instead this time. The only thing I really like about the 42 watters is they seem to penetrate the plant's leaves more, maybe giving them more energy. Also the range of useful light went further I though, about 4-8 inches being a good distance where 20-26 watters are more effective at about 2-4 inches away. I think the best is people who agree, use a 42 watt on top then use lower watters for side lighting. If you use too many 42 watters you need lots of fan-action because they do get hot, but are still cool compare to my 130 watt CFL with added red. You can see I use, and experiment with all these bulbs I talked about, including repti-glo bulbs. Also I do take light readings with my light meter. Do you think stretching would stress the plant much. I know I like a little stretch in my plants as it really opens up the middle buds, then I can tuck the plants right next tome my long 130 watt CFL, and really try and expand those buds that usually don't get enough light. But now I see these people just cutting off all their pop-corn buds and just growing the main stems, and they seem to get way better results than me, so now I'm kinda rethinking my method. I have a bit of a crazy question about fetrilizers, maybe Growone or anybody could you could visit my site https://www.rollitup.org/cfl-growing/199973-cfl-wrap-around.html. you really should veg for at least 30 days but it can be started right off with 12/12 but its not recomended. Also stretching plants is not good because the buds develop at the nodes and less nodes equal less buds. the further apart they are the less overall weight and size of each bud in the harvest. Also i just built a stealth cab and i have 4 42 watts installed. they are 2800 lumens each. also i have 3 6500k and 1 2700k spectrum bulbs for veg. check it out.

Funny thing is for the majority of the vegetative state I was using one 13W CFL. Kinda surprised it got this big!
But yeah I've had it on 24/0 since the start. The plant vegged for about a month and a half.

I don't know if I'm buying you get less nodes if the plant streches. Yes, if the plants were equal sizes and one had nodes every inch versus one that had nodes every 3 inches, you would expect more bud from the one with nodes every inch. However if two plants grown the same amount of time, one just happened to stretch, I believe they would have the same amount of nodes, one just has them more spaced out. In-fact I get slightly more bud off my slightly stretched plant because my setup is able to light the inside buds of the plant better.
Your plant was probably just starving for light after being vegged under 1 X 13 watt CFL for a month. Also most root growth happens during dark so I recommend you veg at 18/6 next time. Once the plant got more light, and some darkness to grow better roots, the thing probably just took off like rocket.

You get more bud from plants that are tight and bushy. There is no way that your stretched plants are getting buds like this:

The 26's are $1.99 a piece...checked Lowes out today and they want $10 for a 42W CFL. Screw that lol.
You only get out, what you put in. Wal-Mart sells them for 7.50 a piece.

Thanks you for pointing out that someone who uses Metal Halid and HPS is growing better and more condensed plants than me, cause I thought CFL is how you get the best yield!

hes just saying with your ammount of light theres no way your buds can match half that, with more lights yes it can.
im on my first serious grow right now, and im putting my pink kush plant to flower today i spent 20$ lastnight at walmart and got 2 3 packs of cool white 23's theres 138 watts of raw CFL action.

So you really think that stretchy plants yield more? You are wrong dude, you want your plants to grow short and stout so that you can get buds like that. With an attitude like that you are never going to grow big buds. CFL's can work great and produce big buds also
