What are your plans for drying? I live in in very low humidity area (it's 28% rh right now!) so I'm gonna hang the whole plant to slow down the dry time. I'm also debating to hang upside down or right side up mostly for trimming purpose since I'm not trimming it wet. I think it would be way easier to trim dried bud if it was dried right side up cuz the leaves wouldn't drape down and blanket the nugs.
I've researched my ass off but like everything else in this hobby there's endless contradictions... a lot of people claim that their way is the right and only way to do things.
Anyways sorry foe the ramble...but I am curious on your thoughts and plans.
Going to cut into branches and hang inside my grow cupboard as its humidity is around 50%..leave for approximately 5 days then transfer to jars with 62% humidity packs in and cure them for a week or so.
Well that's the plan haha..how ut goes is another story :)

Trichomes are degraded during the day and the plant replenishes them at night so make sure not to cut at the end of your light period. Early morning or even an extended period of darkness. (Up to 72 hours has proven results through some scientists out of holland) I've also heard that letting the soil dry out increases trich production.
I know people like to argue about topics like these but I just thought I'd throw that out there for you! You might wanna look into it. Im sure I can find and post link to the holland study if your interested. They claimed up to 30% more thc in some strains. Pretty crazy.
Anyways, enjoy the fruits of your labor!!

Heres some pics of mine after 48 hours dark and drying out the soil...I put em in the dark right after the last photos I posted. I wish I wouldve taken pics of the same exact buds at the same angle in the same lighting for some legit comparison photos. But now I know what to do next time... I'll try it out on my remaining plant in the next couple weeks.
There does appear to be an increase in trichomes... the buds look whiter and seem to be more sparkly. But I just can't say for sure. Either way I feel like it was definitely worth my time. It didn't cost me anything unlike all these magic grow potions for sale out there. Lol

Thank you. I'm really happy with the results. Can't wait to see how my next grow turns out after all I've learned. Plus I think I'm gonna enjoy it more the second time around as I won't be so stressed out about every little thing! Lol
If you get a chance maybe you could post some before and after pics? I would love see if there's a visible photographic difference. Even though I believe a higher cannabanoid content doesnt need to be "visible" to exist... it's still intriguing isn't it? I was so excited to open my tent after 50+ hours of waiting and daydreaming of frost covered buds dripping with gooey resin!! Hehe

Ya I bought a little humidifier from target... came to 50 bucks and its small. I hoping that I won't need it so I can return it! I'm gonna closely monitor the humidity levels in the drying tent that I set up and see what happens. I made a little diy humidifier thingy...some sponges in a pan all standing upright with some water in the bottom and a little fan blowing on it. Hoping this, along with hanging the whole plant, does the trick.
I REALLY DON'T WANT HAY weed!! haha.
I did a test dry on a bud I cut last week and after one day it went into hay smelling mode. But even then I used a pill bottle and did a mock up cure for 3 days and a lot of the smell came back. Still nowhere near acceptable but it was just a quick experiment. Either way it was a learning experience and I'm super glad I played around with it a little before hand.

I had a humidifier before, the filter kind and a emitter kind. I always needed new filters and tap water clogged the emitter.

This time around, aquarium.

Pretty advanced shit for a first grow bud. looks really good. My first plant looked like shit from stress and not knowing how to take care of it properly. I just planted the seed and let it grow. I had never of heard things like topping or scrog or lockout.. Looks like your way ahead of most for just starting. Good job!

I have found that when they say 70 days to harvest, they don't include the "stagnant" flip time that Bilbo is talking about. I always allow at least 2-3 weeks additional time to compensate for the flip time, along with extra time for possible issues. But I never, EVER, base my harvest off days, it's always based on trichs.
most breeders give flower time from flip to harvest,so the first few weeks are included.
