Is $20 really worth double the power bill and less light?
Or is $20 worth more light at half the power cost?

Like I said, I hadn't even heard of them before.... I'll look into it. So far any threads I look up haven't had any comparison between the two other than COB lights being better for big grows. As somebody who only needs 1-2 ounces per grow, why would it matter what lights I use? And so far from what I've seen the light I'm looking at doesn't make a big difference in the electric bill.
I'm a mother of 2 toddlers,every penny counts... my husband works full time, and I work part time around his schedulr, with no child care. I'm not a dealer, or even a user anymore. I decided to grow for his use, and he might do it once or twice a week lol

Diy cobs scare me. As a contractor I would not recommend it. Stoner side is curious.... However I'll pass on burning the house down cause of a bad connection...like we are finally at a point we're grow ops aren't burning down like they used too, but now people want you to build and wire your own lights?

To each his own...though I personally would feel WAY more comfortable with something I assembled then something assembled in bulk with cheap labor in china. Not even a comparison.
And there are kits now that require basically zero elictrical abilities...with quick connects you just plug the prices that come in the kit togethor. (Though these kits do cost a fraction more)

As a minimalist I'll take that challenge. I've wired many things in my lifetime, a few 20GA wires don't scare me.
I'll have my Vero7s up and running within minutes of the package being opened, it really is that easy.
They sell preassembled kits if you aren't willing to build.

One Vero7 @~70W will provide more light than a 200W Viparspectra panel. You could get one going for a little over $100 I'm sure, I'd recommend two running at 35-45W with one 3000K and one 4000K, you'll get everything you need passively cooled (no sound) with a smaller electricity bill.
It was either a 150W-250W HID for my space, a 280W or 400W blurple panel or just two Vero7s. HID was the least costly to buy, expensive to run; blurple was on par with today's COB prices with less output.
So, I gladly gave someone $200 for 140W of COB, I'll let you know how I feel in about four months.

Nice man. Looking good! I'm cutting down 2 of mine today. It's my first harvest and I'm nervous as hell about it for some reason. LolShes looking old now..last 7 days of flush

What are your plans for drying? I live in in very low humidity area (it's 28% rh right now!) so I'm gonna hang the whole plant to slow down the dry time. I'm also debating to hang upside down or right side up mostly for trimming purpose since I'm not trimming it wet. I think it would be way easier to trim dried bud if it was dried right side up cuz the leaves wouldn't drape down and blanket the nugs.
I've researched my ass off but like everything else in this hobby there's endless contradictions... a lot of people claim that their way is the right and only way to do things.
Anyways sorry foe the ramble...but I am curious on your thoughts and plans.

Ya I bought a little humidifier from target... came to 50 bucks and its small. I hoping that I won't need it so I can return it! I'm gonna closely monitor the humidity levels in the drying tent that I set up and see what happens. I made a little diy humidifier thingy...some sponges in a pan all standing upright with some water in the bottom and a little fan blowing on it. Hoping this, along with hanging the whole plant, does the trick.
I REALLY DON'T WANT HAY weed!! haha.
I did a test dry on a bud I cut last week and after one day it went into hay smelling mode. But even then I used a pill bottle and did a mock up cure for 3 days and a lot of the smell came back. Still nowhere near acceptable but it was just a quick experiment. Either way it was a learning experience and I'm super glad I played around with it a little before hand.
