G'day all from the sunny coasts of Australia :D Been looking to grow for some time and i decided i would so i've gone ahead and bought a few pieces of equpiment after a little... alot of research haha.

So far i have: I HAVE A 1000W FOR AFTER FIRST FEW WEEKS!
LIGHT - 400w Phillips Son-T Agro - 54,000 lumens
REFLECTOR - Ablite 2000
BALLAST - 400 JB Ballast
TIMER - HQA et-12
FANS:
- 1 x 100mm (4") eziair (21W, 220V, 2550 rpm - EA-IF04)
- 1 x 125mm (5") eziair (21W, 220V, 2400 rpm - EA-IF05)

I am planning on buying:
A tent (below), Carbon Filter & Fans(help), PH tester/nutrients(help)????
1 X
1.2m x 1.2m x 2m (4'x4'x6.5') Growing Tent:
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/HYDROPONICS-GROW-TENT-SIZE-1-2m-x-1-2m-x-2m-GROWTENT-/220709117093?pt=AU_Seed_Starting_Hydroponics&hash=item336349dca5
1 X 120 MM case fan
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/SUNON-HIGH-QUALITY-HYDROPONIC-FAN-120MM-HYDROPONICS-/220700695387?pt=AU_Seed_Starting_Hydroponics&hash=item3362c95b5b

PROBLEM: AIR FLOW

According to http://cheaphydroponics.com/Merchant2/cfmcalc.htm i need 101 CFM for 1 replacement of the room's air. Lets say i want 2-3 replacements a minute - 200-300CFM.
1. Is this sufficient?

So Take this diagram of my set-up: untitled.jpg
Would a (6"x19.6")/(150mm x 500mm) Be alright for my room size?
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/AIR-ACTIVATED-CARBON-FILTER-150MM-X-500MM-HYDROPONICS-/230553642027?pt=AU_Seed_Starting_Hydroponics&hash=item35ae11642b

The fan on the Carbon Filter would be 6"/150mm Inline 40W 400 CFM Fan,
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/6-150MM-INLINE-40W-240V-INLINE-EXHAUST-FAN-BLOWER-/220700692573?pt=AU_Seed_Starting_Hydroponics&hash=item3362c9505d

Would this be very loud/sufficient?? I have a 400w light to start 1st 2 weeks then a 1000W for the rest of the time with 6-7 plants for 11-12 weeks.
Ill get a ph tester and use baking soad and vinegar to adjust, how much yeild you reckon i might get without nuts?

Cheers!! :DD

Haha nice artistic diagram...

I've got that same size tent except I have a 600w... You should be fine with the. Smell because with mine all I have is a little 6 inch duct booster and it works fine.. I'm a month and a day into flower and there is no smell to my room whatsoever and I even have like 5 little tiny pin holes in my tent.. Matter of fact.. Inside the tent doesn't even really smell all that bad.. The key is airflow and negative pre sure in the tent.

Peace , pot and microdots.

Sweet so all i need is:
Have:
1. 400 & 1000W light/Ballast/Hood/Reflector
2. 2 x fans 100/125mm, 2500rpm - Cool tube
3. Timer

Getting:
4. Tent 1.2x1.2x2m (4'x4'x6.5')
5. 6"x20" Carbon filter
6. 6" 400CFM Fan for filter - exhaust
7. 1 x 200mm Case fan - intake
8. Ph tester
9. Soil - Prelite
10. Pots - Have white Widow SEEDS

Is this sufficent and all i need? what do you think i coud expect for my yeild? Any guess is good :))

I would add a fan controller to that list it will be a well spent 20$. I have a 8x8x7 tent and it has alot of negative pressure with a 420 CFM fan running the carbon filter. Negative pressure is good but too much is bad because you lose valuable space. In my 8x8 losing 6-10 inches off each wall isnt that bad but in a 4x4 its a big loss of space. Just my experience and thoughts best of luck :D

awsome tip, didnt know look at it that way with loosing space, can you explain a little more maybe

try and go for an ounce per plant.

what size pots are you using?
what kind of nutrients are you using?

I have a friend that has a 2x2 tent and he run positive pressure because it pushes the walls out a little and gives hims space. Tents walls are thin and easily manipulated by air flow. Pushing lots of air into your tent will treat it like a ballon and push the walls out(even with vents). While this is not much space in a smaller 4x4 or 2x2 tent it makes a difference considering if you suck the air out of the tent you lose 4-7 inches off the walls just from suction. I'm well medicated hope i explained that little better.Too much negative pressure in a tent causes the walls to suck in a few inches and limits space in a smaller tent such as a 4x4 Gibbs that was my point i guess lol. Anyways best of luck :D

setup reads good wills see how it works positive pressure does work well in tents.
you say that with confidence thats good cuz ive read and have bin told that marijuana prefers negative pressure or "likes" negative pressure and im a newb and always get mixed messages about alot of things so i just try and stick to the basics for the most part and havent messed with this, but again.. i am looking to get a tent aswell

I think what the deal is with positive/negative pressure systems is that positive pressure systems can render filters useless, let me explain.
When pressure inside a room is much larger than outside of the room Positive pressure is achieved (more intake than exhaust).
Positive Pressure
, forces air out of the room, through any crack or hole it can find thus eliminating the usefulness of filters.
Negative on the other hand uses more exhaust than intake, and rather sucks air in if any cracks or holes are present. Too much of either is bad i guess as you loose a lot of room space if you are using a tent as the walls are sucked in (negative) or they are pushed out but filters aren't as effective (positive). So how about slightly negative pressured? What do you guys think?

@GibbsIt89
Wow 1 pound a plant! Well im only aiming for 1/4-1/2 lb for starting haha

Pot Size: 4"/10cm pot then re-pot into a 4-5 gallon?
Nutrients: Are nutrients necessary?
Soil: I can just buy soil that aerated, no sand etc from a local florist?... i don't HAVE to mix it do i?

I had that exact problem, I have a powerful online fan to cool the tent down but to keep slightly negative pressure at night i have a duct booster at the end of my ducting that keeps it slightly negative.

Pot size is good, I think a good measurement is one gallon for every foot of growth so expect 4-5 foot plants.

Nutrients are definitely necessary for indoor unless you make some special soil with tons of nutrient stuff like worm castings.

Use whatever black soil you can, just know if you're gonna have to add nuts

Since Nutrients are essential is CoCo Peat.....................:
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/SRI-LANKA-PEAT-COCO-PEAT-BAG-50-LITRE-HYDROPONIC-MEDIUM-/320596604934?pt=AU_Seed_Starting_Hydroponics&hash=item4aa50bf806
the only soil/medium i'll need besides nutrients (as in im growing with soil, NOT hydro/aeroponic)

And for nutrients, could i use JUST Dutch Master Gold A & B? I have the alternative to use CYCO (MORE COMPLICATED :(( ) but no other as i am buying only in Australia to avoid customs.
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/DUTCH-MASTER-GOLD-GROW-B-1-LITRE-SET-NUTRIENTS-/230525646492?pt=AU_Seed_Starting_Hydroponics&hash=item35ac66369c
(ALSO PRICE IS A PROBLEM - extra stuff to the budget already .. controller etc) lol

Also i have a question, should my pots have holes with a small tray to catch the water? or should it not have holes and hodl the water? WHATS THE DIFFERENCE (also is there a difference in growing quality/times you have to drain)? THANKS SO MUCH SERIOUSLY I LOVE YOU GUYS AND LOVE THIS COMMUNITY!
