First Grow Mini Grow

Well I always wanted to grow, and I've seen people grow in smaller spaces so I made the best of what I have.

Plants were grown on the windowsill for 6 weeks and I just built a lovely botched up grow room for you all to laugh at :dunce:

It's not finished yet, hopefully by the time I put a proper grow in here it will be, but this is mainly for fun.

So there's 4 plants in soil, don't know the strain, they're from collected seeds.

Got 2 105watt CFL's one 2700k one 6400k

Growing in a mini greenhouse which has been blacked out, still need to black out the door, just covering it with a curtain so far.

Need to work on some ventilation and filtration for it. So far sticking a dehumidifier up to the door has kept it cool and none smelly.

I'll let you know how I get on, just put the plants under 12/12 lighting, I want to force them to flower now as the windowsill failed (of course). A little worried if the plants will grow too big, but we'll see.

It's a start at least :)

Okay so I got myself ventilation. Just as bodged as the rest of the tent :D

It's a air purifier which uses a carbon filter, so I'm hoping it will keep the smell down and I've mounted it half in the tent and half out of it. So it's sucking the air out. Causes a nice draw up the whole tent makes the plants leaves flutter slightly so I figure no need for another fan in there.

The tent is now keeping at the same temperature as the room 20 C

Plants should be showing me some signs of sex of the next week or so, then I'll know how many plants will be growing here!

Got my first little flowers today 3 of them seem to be female, the 4th plant is not showing any signs of sex yet (at least not visible by eye).

So the botched together room works :D

Still keeping the room at a nice 22 degrees which is the ambient temperature here so I can't complain at that.

All I need to do now is sort out a few little light leaks. They are so small though and the tent is in a dark place to start with, I might leave it until the next lot of plants.

Okay so I got a space blanket up on the walls of the closet to give it a bit more of a reflective surface. Changed the 6400k bulb out for a lower watt 2700k I figure more reds is best especially as I'm running out of room.

My favourite plant is looking lovely, smothered in hairs took a picture for you all to see.

Got some tiny preflowers on the last plant too now, looks female. Lucky me 4/4. Probably kill it anyway for space.

Took out the weakest plant, there's enough space in there now for all 3 of them to fit nicely.

One plant is now smoothered in bud sites and the others have a good amount.

The plant I took out looked ill, but it's chopped up now and I feel better about the room.

Everything is going well and I have about 5 weeks to go until harvest!

So I'm half way through flowering now so I'm putting an update in!

Pictures are more interesting than my rambling. 3 plants 2 are getting too tall and having a bit of LST

Also I've completely kept the smell and heat down so far.

To be honest I don't know, haven't got a humidity meter. Probably because it's looking okay so I didn't bother getting one, haven't checked my PH either.

I sound like a right lazy stoner.

Now you've asked I might pick one up just to let you know :P

Home Depot or Lowes should carry a digital Temp/Humidity meter for around $20

Just asking because your fan leaves look real skinny, and I've read that higher humidity can make fan leaves wider so I was thinking that maybe lack of it could be causing skinniness?
Or maybe it's just the strain ;)

Here with an update for you all to poke at.

Growing along well now, been feeding them some better nutrients but one seems to have clawing leaves which I believe means too much N, so it should sort its self out I think.

My approximate harvest date is the 10th, I need to get my arse reading about knowing when to harvest and how to dry and cure properly.

The bit everyone likes to see, Pictures:

You can see in here I've had problems with my plants getting a little close to the bulbs :( also one of the plants is budding really low down and not getting any light.

Looking forward to my next grow, got polypots to grow in and some Amnesia Haze Seeds, will be picking up the propper nutrients next time and it should go much smoother.

I should document this better.

1 of the plants is ill right now, yellowed leaves and they were curling slightly, Nitrogen deficiency and a PH imbalance so I'm told. It's perking back up now, I flooded and drained with fresh water, then gave it a dose of N high Fertilizer. Hopefully this will do it, the yellowing is fading fast, slightly burnt tips (over fertilizing I think, whoops)

Another plant looks to be a faster flowering strain than the other 2, I think that one is about 3 weeks away from harvest.

The other healthy one looks to be 5+ weeks away.

And the ill one looks to be somewhere in between.

This is all my guesses based on some questioning of people.

Built the extractor unit into a box on the top now so it isn't just hanging around. Fixed the light leaks the way it was put in was causing.

I'm quite happy with my first grow, I must say it's going a lot better than I expected!

2 weeks or so until my first harvest, just given the final dose of nutrients.

I have Gnat Larvae so I'm drawing them out using potato skins, going to throw them away and replace with new ones in the morning. I hear they're relativity harmless but they eat roots right, and there seems to be an awful lot in one pot.

Neem Oil is good for pests. Looks good for a first grow man, learn from all this and make the second one even better :) You still quite a bit of time, make sure all the white pistils turn orange/red, and the trichs change correctly.

The trichs are getting all cloudy on the plant nearest to harvest.

One has gotten quite ill :( it seemed to be caused by the new fertilizer, but the other 2 plants seemed to like it. I've rinsed the soil through with a couple of litres of water, not sure what else I can do for her really, I'll be checking on them later and perhaps posting about that problem.

Picturey update time!

So the plant close to harvest has fully cloudy trichs now and smelling lovely. Almost all the hairs are brown now.

Ill plant is looking a little better.

And miss slow ass is still being slow and looks weeks behind!

You can see the ill plant here, any idea for me?

Looks like a bit of overwatering to me. Let the medium dry out (if you're doing soil) and then water them with just plain water til harvest. Besides that they're lookin good man, I'm here for the harvest :D

Yeah I think I do over water, it just feels so wrong to do nothing to them. I need to get out that habit, I over fertilized too at first.

Oh I got a Neem Oil based bug killer off the shelf and it is sorting the little pests out. Hardly any left last time I checked, given another spray since so I think they're done for now :)

First harvest won't be long, but it will be the smallest plant.

Small plant has been chopped, 5 days ago now.

Put it into an old PC case hung on string got a small fan running at the back on low speed just enough to have airflow without them moving around.

They are getting dry nicely now, gone a lot paler, and feeling kinda firm, going to read a bit and decide if they're ready.
