Wait wait, you have the Jiffy cups sitting in a pool of water? Is that ok to do? I'm just wondering for the sake of my own grow - I'm using blue plastic dixie cups.

this guy had a post that said he always kept his seedlings in jiffy cups in a tupperware with 1/4 inch of water. My soil would dry up real fast with the lights above it, so the water in the tupperware kept them hydrated (not drowned) and the humidity up. Now that they are in big pots, i just water them normal since there is more soil to hold moisture.

PS - my temps are running 86-88 so i decided to add CO2 since somebody said:
hot + CO2 = ok,
hot and no CO2 = stress/ death

is this ok?

um i would recommend trying to deal with those high temps before attempting to use co2. using co2 makes a lot of other factors harder to control and may end up doing you more harm than good. make sure everything else is set first before using it. ideal temps are around 75-80, anything over 85 and your plants growth could stop... try getting some kind of fans or a humidifier. hows your humidity right now? and lastly, why isnt this in grow journals haha

well if you have to leave the door open for ventilation maybe you should convert this to a closet or something because that would likely get rid of your light temp problems. i tried the same thing in a large growbox like 5 feet tall and 2 sq ft. it got up to 85-90 with only about 4 CFLs, a fan didnt really help the way i had it. now its in the closet and right now its 75 ish with 4 lights. it helps a LOT

Yeah i didn't know about grow journals until after i started this :( but i figure, this way i can get help faster?

anyway i live with 2 other people (sister and wife) and the grow box is in the pantry, i don't think they would be happy if i converted the pantry in to a grow room ;p

the temp is stable around 85 it seems, as long as the pantry door is open, i think as the days cool off toward october (especially to november when they flower) the temps will be a lot cooler.

new pic below. day 6 since sprouting.

hehe i tried using those as a growbox
yeah i got the smallest one they make, 2x2x4, its great for vegging. i use the other half of my closet for flowering...

i think you can have this moved to grow journals if you want? or just keep it here guess it dont matter haha

4 out of 5 seedlings seem to be taking off, looks like the roots have reached past the jiffy mix peat moss and into the actual soil. I have 4 lights - 2 2700k CFLs and 2 5500k
In the pic:
A & B are top 44 - These lean towards the 5500
C & D are unknown #1 - These lean towards the 2700
E is unknown #2 - unhappy runt

hey bro, i dont know if you know or not or whether someone posted it but the 2700k CFLs you have aren't very efficient for the vegetative state, save those babies for flowering and replace them with 6500k lights.

I think that was a very nice thing buying seeds to grow for your mother in law because she had cancer. That's a nice thing to do. Sorry for your loss. +Rep

actually, ive heard 6500k is for overall plant growth so those will be fine in flower, but the 2500k and those lower kelvin lights are basically useless for vegging. so id get half and half at least when you flower

thanks spida - she was taking "marinol" pills and they helped a little, then she started smoking and it helped a lot - but weed at the medical place was really expensive so i figured this was a good idea. what ever grows now, i'll probably have to smoke it all with my wife in her moms honor ;) she was a nice lady.
