First grow - Auto Ultimate & Tha Shiznit

Hello guys and girls.

I'm starting a journal on my first grow. I think with the collective experience of you lot, and my time and enthusiasm, we can maybe get somewhere.

My setup is as follows;

Black Orchid 80x80x160cm tent
Vents TT-100 fan (187 m3/hour)
Buddy Carbon Filter (200 m3/hour)
Black Orchid Euro Reflector
Black Orchid Nova Multi Spectrum 400w HPS & Ballast

Currently I have 1 x Dutch Passion Auto Ultimate and 1 x Short Stuff Tha Shiznit, placed direct into pre watered BioBizz Light Mix soil with 30% volume of perlite added, in 15ltr airpots, covered with cling film to keep humidity up. I was gonna go for 10ltr airpots/felt pots, but 15 ltr was the only size my local hydro shops had. As I'm not planning to use nutrients until flowering, excess soil volume shouldn't be too much of an issue.

So, there we have it. Pretty boring at the minute, simply waiting for anything to pop above soil. Seeds were placed roughly 5ml below the surface, with a little dusting of soil on top at 11.30pm on the 28th February. Resisting the urge to water again! Hopefully see some greenery soon.

Feel free to chip in, never have enough advice/recommendations/sarcasm.

Cheers!

Oh yeah, should have said.

Pots are in the tent under light on 18/6 schedule.

In the post I have a hygrometer/thermometer (currently using a vivarium one, so will use that as backup when digital arrives) and a digital ph meter. Further down the line I will be installing oscillating fans, possibly intake fans if temps get too high, and possibly venting the exhaust through the ceiling, which the missus is gonna kill me for.

I also have in backup 1 x TH Seeds MK Ultra Kush, which sounds incredible. I'll be investing in some more seeds soon, ad maybe try and plant a seed every 3 or 4 weeks, to keep the cycle going.

Any help or advice appreciated, cheers ladies and gents.

Bit quiet in here...

This morning Tha Shiznit decided to rear it's ugly head. Still nothing from The Ultimate yet, I'll give it a few more days before I start brushing a bit of soil off, maybe she's just sleepy. It officially begins!

Now I have green stuff above soil, I've removed the cling film from Tha Shiznit, and dropped the light to around 30cm above the pots.

Again, if anyone has any input or advice, please speak up.

I recently grew an auto Ultimate. it was slow to germinate, and when it did, it was the tiniest seedling I'd ever seen! However, I grew it in organic soil in a 20 gallon pot ( indoors! ) and even after chopping three weeks early because of spider mites, I ended with 305 grams of excellent dried bud!

Wow, that's impressive man! How was the smoke? I'm purely vaporizer and edibles these days, so still wanting nice flavours and effects.

We'll have to see what yields I get with a (roughly) 3 gallon airpot. That's unfortunate about the spider mites. Any idea how they crept in? In the soil you think? I'm such a pessimist, trying to prepare for every disaster!

Cheers for jumping on board man

Directed here from the thread you posted.
I am not much more experienced than yourself, I'm 41 days in my first grow now.
I have, on the other hand, done a ton of reading, particularly autos. I think I may be able to help you out, and if I am unsure, I can get advice from a few veterans I know.

I can at least help you avoid the few mistakes I have made so far.

I have LED, so my knowledge on the HPS is severely limited.

May the force be with you.
Peace.

Think the mite hiked in from the greenhouse last fall........ it WON'T happen again!
I mostly vaporize also. Its a good strong high, Mostly an up buzz with a mild body stone also ( unless you smoke too much .. ) for me it lasts 2 1/2 - 3 hours. I call this strain skittles now because of the mild scent and it tastes like skittles too!

Oh, and pictures are a must, if you want to gain readers!
Hahaha, yeah, pictures will be along shortly man! Don't want to jinx things by showing off before the first set of true leaves. Watch this space! Do you have a journal on here too? I'd like to check out your progress.

That sounds pretty nice dude. Fingers crossed she pops, and I can taste the rainbow in a few months!

How long did your monster take seed to harvest? Once I get a bit more skilled, I might try and a grow a beast in my tent, not sure on the biggest container for my space though...

First pictures will be along tomorrow, during lights out (so I don't get that weird flickering effect). Tiny little true leaves coming along now!

Not sure about watering with these little ladies. Since I'm using airpots they're bound to dry out faster than regular pots, no? In a 15ltr pot, with about 13ltr of growing medium I'm in, how much water should a seedling need? Still gonna resist the urge for now, make those roots work for it!

I run autos in 3gal pots from the start, when they are little I cheat a bit and place a Tupperware bowl over them then water, keeps the water from being poored directly on the roots and the new gal

Wicked idea mate! Think the baby's food pots will do nicely as a sprout umbrella!

Just imagine the seedling to be in a solo cup or small pot and water asif it's sat in that inside the big pot. Maybe 200-300ml of water? I wouldn't worry about run off yet.
Very helpful kind sir. I've got water sitting to hopefully de-chlorinate a lil, so I'll maybe give them a tiny feed over the next couple of day.

FUCK IT!!

Auto Ultimate now aborted. A shame, as it sounds a good yield and smoke, but that seed wasn't doing anything. May try that one again in future.

Soil rehydrated, warmed up, and ready for....

TH Seeds MK Ultra Kush Auto

Shit sounds incredible. Seed just been planted, will give it a bit of time under high humidity canopy and hope for the best.

RIP Dutch Passion Auto Ultimate
Long live TH Seeds MK Ultra Kush

Live and learn

How long did you give it before aborting?

I have seen them pop 7, and even 10 says after potting.

Peace

I don't think it was doing well. I'd haver only have stressed it by investigating it as well, so its gone to see heaven. Some time in future, I want to try The Ultimate again.
