After debating about it i tried to test the water and go for my first grow. This grow is just from bagseed...i decided to try this out first before spending money on some good seeds. First off i'm using 2 4' T8's for light and thinking about adding a few CFL's later on for flowering and maybe to help veg too. Soil is just miracle grow organic soil from home depot. No nutes or anything just water. If anyone has any comments or suggestions feel free to leave them thanks.

Here are a few pics - sorry about the quality it is from a camrea phone:

-First pic of the seedling is from 11-9-07
-Last pic is from today 12-9-07 so we're looking at a little over a month of growth

Plants look nice and healthy man. Good job so far.

Have you given any thought to a nute program? With the plants being a month old, it isn't too early to start giving them a 'taste'.

Are you checking your water for ph?

i have given thought about nutes but currently i'm a little strapped for cash to be putting into nutes when i have rent and bills to pay ya know. but since they are a month old now i would like to start nutes. i don't check my ph either. for me its just light, water and air and it looks like its going good so far.

I can understand the $$$ thing. You gotta do, what you gotta do.

The plants can survive without high priced nutes, but the ph is ultra critical. Basic ph test kit is like $10 bucks. A digital ph meter, with the needed solutions is like $50.

I have both and still use the $10 to double check the expensive meter.

Looks real good man. Good job:hump::hump:

I wait until one of the side branches gets 4 nodes before I take a clipping.

thanks for the advice grandfather

looking at all the pics on rollitup i have seen that pretty much everyone else's plants are not as compact and bushy as mine are getting. is this a good or bad thing? should i raise the lights to make the plant "stretch" more for the light?

haven't seen any type of preflowers yet but hoping they are coming soon and that they are female preflowers. i was thinking sometime soon after the new year would be a good time to switch to 12/12.

thanks Rage

like i said earlier if you read i'm not using any nutes or anything just the miracle grow organic potting soil and water. but while looking in my garage i found some miracle grow plant food, 15-30-15. i know miracle grow isn't the fan favorite around here but since i can't afford anything else do you think this will help or hurt the plants?

Bushy plants can be anything, genetics, environment, I wouldn't raise the lights, it won't accomplish what you think you want.

personally I like bushy plants as opposed to those long skinny plants, they always look under nourished or something.

Of the 4 plants I'm got in bud right now, 3 are bush. Go figure. :)

Bush is good. 8)

well its been a week since i last updated so i decided to throw a few more pics on here for everyone to look at it. you can tell the plant is really starting to bush up which is good since i'm planning on throwing it into flower in a few weeks.

i also added miracle grow for nutes...i know its not the greatest but its all i had so i decided to give it a try and see what hits.

nuff said, now here's the new pics

Great Job man..... be proud of your work

I'd start with the nutes at 1/4 or less strength. Give a dose and then wait a day or two to see if any leaves start to curl or change color.

nitro-15
veg nute
pho-30
bud + root nute
pot 15
both

well this seems like an ok fert if nothing else is available give nutes according to how you are encouraging the plant to grow. With a high p, a plant that has vegged awhile may want to flower ........but if you plan to clone you may want to do so before flowering. if you read around other threads are also a wealth of info.
Welcome and nice plants!

well here are almost into the new year and that means we are getting really close to the flowering period here. plants are looking nice and healthy really green with a nice skunky smell to it. some leaves are slightly damaged though which looks like some bug problems to me. (but i am not an expert) when i just went to take the new pics i found like a cricket looking bug on my plant which i shooed away.

still haven't determined male or female yet but i do see some pre flowers starting to appear on the nodes. from what i've seen around rollitup i think i see some female pre flowers starting. i'm gonna have to try and get a good camera to take pics and see if anyone has any ideas about it.

also i plan on heading to home depot to pick up a few more higher wattage CFL's for when i start flowering in about a week or maybe less, just depends on when i pick up the new lights.

i think thats about all for now so enjoy the pics.

comments always appreciated.
