First grow, 1000w HPS bagseed 30 days into flower

This is my first grow ever. I got the plants from a friend on 6/28. They were started in a greenhouse in 1 gallon pots using MG potting soil and MG fertilizer. I think they weren't getting enough light because they seemed really stretched when I got them.

As soon as I got them I put them in 3 gallon bags of FFOF and about 15% perlite and put them under my 1000w HPS 12/12.

I started with 12 plants and ended up with 5 females.

The first 2 pictures were taken 6/28 when I first got the plants. The second two were taken 7/3, so 6 days into flower.

I would appreciate any comments or suggestions as this is my first grow.

On 7/5 I found spider mites and started spraying the plants with Dx Dr DoRights.

On 7/7 I started giving them Botanicare nutes. I started them with 1/2 dose liquid karma and 1/4 dose pure blend pro bloom. I started low on the nutes because I accidentally got hydro nutes and I'm growing in soil.

On 7/8 I got 4 more plants, 2 of which turned out to be female.

On 7/10 I increased the nutes to a full dose of liquid karma and 1/2 dose on bloom.

The pictures are from 7/15 so 18 days into flower. The 2 plants on the left are the new ones so they are only 8 days into flower. I had to bend the new plants over because they were so much taller.

Haven't really been doing anything differnt for a while now.

On 7/19 I upped the bloom to 4 tps per gallon, it recommended 5-6 but that was for hydro and I was told I should use about half for soil.

I have been giving them 1/2 gallon of water each every 3 days.

The pictures are from 7/22 so 25 days into flower. The little one in the back I started from bag seed and moved inside when it was still small. I'm not even sure when I planted it or when I brought it in.

I took these pictures just now on 7/27 so 30 days into flower. How are they doing? I would really appreciate any feedback.

Looks like you're right on target to me. Good work.

Thanks for the feedback. Thats what I was hoping to hear.:)

I was gonna try to get some better pics with the HPS off but I dropped my last regular light bulb (I take it out because I'm afraid I will leave the switch on). I will try to get some better pics tomorrow or the next day.

Wow, your girls look nice. Lucky you and your 1000w Juggernaut. I bet you'll get some nice sized colas. As for how they look right now, Like MrFishy said, you look to be on track. Subscribing to this one but promise me you'll have a some picks on a regular basis (Please!). Good luck!

Yesterday after taking a close look at my 2 newer plants I see they still have lots of spider mites. The older plants still seem to be doing ok. I moved the new ones over so the leaves aren't touching the old ones. I also spayed the leaves of the new ones with dr doright. Today I released probably around 1000 ladybugs into my room, hopefully they will help, I figured they couldn't hurt.

The pictures were taken today 7/31 so day 34 of flower for all but the last two pics, the last two are the newer plants on day 24. Sorry about the quality, when I get some time I will try to get some good pictures.

Sorry I wanted to update this journal more but I have just been really busy. Not much new I'm on day 50 of flower. I'm back down to 3 tsp of pure bloom pro per gallon. A couple plants started to show slight yellowing on the tips and around the edges with 4 tsp. The two plants on the far right (can't see them in the pics) are 10 days behind and infected pretty bad with spidermites. I have been wiping off the leaves but I'm afraid to spray anything near the buds. I think I have them under control enough that they aren't spreading to the older plants at least. The two in the back were just ones that I started outside and stuck in there when they were about 6" tall.

The picks were taken tonight. I wasn't really planning to take any, I just thought of it when the light went off. I wasn't setup and they aren't very good pics. I think the spots on the plants are from the dr doright spray, I don't think I sprayed it off good enough before the lights came on.

I tried to get some picks of the trichomes so I could ask for advise on when to start flushing and when to harvest. The pictures probably aren't good enough to tell though. I think I will start flushing at least one of them, I think its fairly close to harvest but I'm not really sure.

Sorry to hear about the spidermites. Im still here following this thread. They look nice with lots of trichromes! They look pretty good for being so infested as you say.

I use Shultz Fruit and Vegetable spray, its eviromently safe and you can even use it up to harvest day (so says the bottle). But never had Spidermites personally, though I have seen first hand what it can do to a garden (not mine) and they are hard to kill. I have had thrips thought. They are easier to kill.

The ones in the picture don't have mites that bad, the two off camera are covered though. I gave three of them water with no bloom and only half strength liquid karma because thats what it said in the instructions. I'll try to get better pics soon, I just need to get a better light in there.

Bad news. After looking at them today the tops of two of the plants are covered in spidermites. I'm not sure if I should spray them or just harvest them. I tried to get some pics of the trichomes through my radioshack microscope but they didn't turn out very good. The pictures are of a leaf i cut off near the top bud. The trichomes look different on different buds of the same plant. Some look mostly mostly clear but others look mostly cloudy with some that even look amber. What do you guys think? Harvest? Spray? Wait it out?

I know that you have another option other than spraying your buds directly, they have these fogger cans that you can set by your grow and they are supposed to kill them without damaging your crop. I dont know too much about them other than they have ones specifically for spidermites. I would look into it.

Finally got some spare time to update. I chopped one plant on the 23rd and One on the 25th. I don't know if I mentioned its full of seeds. I haven't found any male flowers so I guess I must have left a male plant in the room to long. There really isn't very much but the couple little buds that I quick dried where pretty stoney. At least I got some smoke and its been a good learning experience. I hope to do a lot better next time when I can start from clones and hopefully keep all the bugs out.

I took the pics today so the 3 big ones on the left are on day 60 of flower and the 2 bigs ones on the right are on day 50. As for the two little ones in the back the bigger one is on day 29 and the other one I'm not sure about but I think its somewhere around day 48 of flower. The one on day 48 looks good for how small it is. Its looks completely different then the rest of my plants. Its turning dark purple, I will try to get better pics under a different light.

In the box is all the bud I got from the two plants I harvested. The bottom two rows are the first plant, its starting to get dry so I don't think I will have to worry about mold, I just hope it doesn't dry to quickly.

I harvested one on the 56th day of flower and one on the 58th. I would have waited a couple more days but I had a problem with spider mites. They had about half cloudy trichomes. I'm not sure how long they where growing before I got them. The guy said they where a couple months old. I don't think they where getting enough light, the greenhouse wasn't letting much light in and they seemed kinda stretched.

I haven't weighed it yet, I will weight it when it dries. I don't think there will be that much, I would be happy with 1 ounce per plant but I probably wont get that much. From the couple little buds I tried it looks like it has a lot of seeds.

I will weigh it when I put it in jars for curing. I will definitely post the final weight.

I Chopped one more last night after I posted and I just took a couple pics today. I also took some picks of a small plant I started from bag seed. It looks really purple, way different from the rest. I started it right before I got the bigger ones on June 28. I started it in dirt before I got my FFOF potting soil and it sat outside and was neglected for a while. I only gave it water and it didn't do much until I brought it in under my light and started giving it nutes. I think I brought it in somewhere around July 8th so its about 51 days into flower. Its not gonna yield much but the buds look awesome. One day I will have to learn how to take better pics.
