I need to know what kind of fertilizer I should use in the vegetative stage of my plants? Anything I can get at home depot or ace hardware? lowe's?

During the veg stage you'll want to go with something higher in nitrogen so look for something with a higher N rating on the N-P-K and keep it organic.

it doesn't have to be organic, unless you plan to use organic soil and grow it that way. Chemical fertilizers work as well. any 20-20-20 plant food should work just fine for vegging

They also carry Miricale grow but I wouldn't recommend it. Keep it organic or you'll be back on here in a week asking why your leaves are burned.

well it all depends on the kind of money you have to spend. that will make a major difference on the ferts you use. you can find a local grow store and go there and pick up anything and use it 1/4 strength for and it will last you a good while

to keep from burning up your plants let the plant use up the nutrients in the soil to begin with for about a month it will tell you when it needs food.

Why does everyone think MG burns plants? Um,....Doesn't common sense tell you that you're all mixing it too strong? 1/4 strength MG is stronger than many ferts mixed at full strength, which I think, is the reason for all the issues. Knowing that, 1/8 strength MG is too much for small plants, and the main reason people burn them with MG. They don't realize how potent it really is.

As mentioned, any fert with high N value, will work fine, if mixed correctly, and PH-adjusted, if necessary.:leaf:

combined with a time release fert in the soil , is why most people burn up their plants

I'll argue with that in a couple weeks, well into my testing of "Fox Farms soil vs. MG soil", which'll put this matter to rest, once and for all.
