I am a newby at pot growing, but humor me.
I thought that in order to get fem seeds, you need to have pollen from a herm bud or a reversed male or female...and those resulting seeds carry only the X chromosome, then pollinated with the XX of the female.......?
How can they produce a male? Other than maybe changing gender completely.

There are several ways to make fem seeds. The one you are referring to I believe is antiquated. Greenhouse seeds claim the chance of getting a male is about 1/1000. So using that logic, every 1000 fem seeds they send to people contains a male.

What you do to make a femmenized seed is you spray iodized colloidal silver on your buds just after it has been pollinated, the silver blocks male chromozones and if you do it right you will have a 99.9 chance of creating a female seed, if you get that one out of a thousand then your luck is shit. odds are though, that these were not femenized correctly.

It should be nearly impossible for a feminized seed to produce a true male. A Hermy on the other hand can be done by stress or allowing to flower about 14 days longer than needed. The likelyhood would depend on how the feminized seeds were produced.
