Failed cannabis brownies. Why?

So I tried to bake some brownies with the special ingredient and it failed. After 5 hours of waiting period I got nothing. It tasted like bud after all. I prepared the cannabutter before making brownies. I took smaller pot in which I melted the butter and mixed with bud and put it into a bigger one with water and kept it heated. I kept it like this for over 1 hour stirring occasionally.

After that I separated butter from the bud and threw out the waste. I melted chocolate in this butter straight away (using same technique with 2 pots). There was about 1g of bud but normally it takes about 0.2 to get pretty stoned and if I have smoked that 1g I would have gotten in coma (probably :D).

Could it have been because I didn't heat the butter with bud long enough? Or maybe because I ate these brownies as a dessert after the dinner? And did I have to leave the cannabutter to get solid before using it? I am planning to bake something again and I don't want to make same mistakes. Thanks guys!

i would use alot more bud, see the plant material and thc may weigh 1g and u just took out only the thc so thats most the weight right there. so your left with the small ammount of thc which then is spread out throughout the brownies = lower dose. my experence you need to use a half ounce ;) that makes good brownies. hope this helps GLHF

1g for 1 stick of butter?
1 stick of butter for 1 batch of brownies?
Really man, read more of the recipes in here, I haven't seen any of them that use less than 14-20g for a batch, or to make butter with.
I made a quick lazy batch before Thanksgiving, and I used over 17g of trim and popcorn bud for a batch, and even that wasn't too strong.

It's possible the butter never got hot enough. At some point, the butter needs to be brought above water's boiling point. This'll decarboxylate the orally-inactive THCA. And bud and hash, if they're reasonably fresh, have most of the actives bound up as THCA and CBDA. cn

lol, duh, i missed the part about it decarbing the same temp as boiling water, sorry to be redundant cannabineer.. damn blue dream..
Never a worry. It's the sort of info I don't mind repeating ... it might save folks disappointment with edi-meds that could have been strong. cn

The other best bit of advice I can give is "use a thermometer" ... don't decarb by "feel" unless you have experience ... cn

thats what im saying ive never had a prob making edibles, and i know ive never done it correctly. or at least with any science behind it, but i do know i use brick or trim for edibles and i use about a oz or more in some cooking oil. i just cycle it out, and put fresh in when i feel the old stuff has extracted enough.

1 oz. per stick here. i mix water, butter n bud in crockpot on low for 8-12 hrs.
water, butter, and bud cooked long and slow is really the only way to do it right.

You can stuff way more weed into the butter when you add water to the mix as well, plus you get a much cleaner end product. You can make hallucination cookies from fan leaf!

Well, I ate the whole thing after baking it. As I said, 1 gram is pretty a lot to me as I don't smoke frequently. I used 1 gram with 100 grams of butter. If you need so much bud to bake proper brownies I suppuse I should stick to smoking it :)

Thanks for advices guys!

EDIT:
So should I wait for cannabutter to get solid after making it or it's not essential?

De-carb?good idea there/I skipped that part before.

the way I have been doing it works pretty well/so next time even better.

Recipe:
28g sugar leaf
1 1/2 stick butter
1 pint water
small crock pot set on low for 12 hours after a high setting for 2 hours/stir the brew during high.
1 qt. mason jar
mason fruit canning filter
rubber gloves
squeeze the batch into the jar thru the filter
place the mason jar in the refer over night
get a betty crooker bag of cookie mix/or brownie mix...the one that calls for one stick of butter.
makes 16 large cookies.

ps...stay home after eating one of these bastards!
