These pureveg+uv bulbs seems to have a spectrum similar to reptile bulbs. Very little UVB below 300nm but a lot UVA and a blue peak in the visible part of the spectrum.

Below is the spectrum from an Arcadia D3desert..

And this is the pureveg+uv bulp..(the yellow peak at 550nm should be green, lol! And this from a long time producer).
Pureveg+uv.jpg
And thats the pureUV spectrum just to compare it..

so would it be better for @Or_Gro to run the pure veg uv bulb with its 35-45% uvb to acclimate them, instead of the pure uv with its 75% uvb ?

and i think from here on out i will just run the pureveg uv from seedlings on, i mean that is agro/htg's intention, but i dont like to follow the rules. now if i could only find the unicorn 100% uvb bulb that agro/htg made years back. i know they are sitting on a dusty shelf or backroom somewhere in their companies warehouses.

That i don’t like to follow the rules bit...until i fall on my face and find they were correct...

Seems a nice combi! I've already considered to still use a reptile bulb in the veg area and the more powerful pureUV in the flower tent. Less UV means it's easier for the plants to get used to it and the costs are almost comparable to reptile bulbs too. Starting the hardening process with the power veg+ and use the more powerful pureUV is probably the best thing you can do to avoid excessive stress with burnings.

So for veg, when do you start? At 6 nodes? Later?

Day 37 of ?84?: Both front plants continue to recover from extreme defol and uva-b; haze faster and stronger than “diesel”. Back plants buds/tips growing strong.

Ppfd ~1050, dosed all plants 2mL/gal cal-mag (right plants got 1/2 of this yesterday), ec 2.2-2.3 in all buckets, all other controlled variables in range.

Earlier!
Currently I've a 11w Reptisun UVB CFL (10/30% UVB/A, see 150w light in my signature) in my 3sft veg area and start using it from the beginning of week 2 (when the seedlings are transplanted into their first pots). But it has pretty poor intensity and coverage and not all of them get the same amount of UVB. Pretty sure there is almost no UVB with more than 1ft distance. (New 24w ballast and bulb are on my list)
Rooted cuttings I put in my 8sft flowering area get 39w (12% UVB, 3ft bulb) from the first day. Normally I start with 2ft and slowly reduced to 1ft distance. This way I've not seen any stress symtomes till now.
I think, I'll use two 24w Arcadia bulbs in the future to harden them up and then switch to the stronger 24w pureUV bulbs. Such a reptile bulb has ~150-200μW/cm² at 1ft depending on the reflector and when I switch the bulbs and start again with 2ft distance(170μW/cm² with pureUV) the plants should get almost the same intensity.
Actually, this should allow a trouble- and stress-free hardening process and use of the pureUV bulb.

Thanks RB, uv meter came yesterday, so in future, in addition to height, i will report intensity.

The other meter is supposed to arrive today, which will provide a whole new dimension of reporting...

Oh man this gonna be cool!
Garden looks amazing as always bud

OG i stumbled across this Led automation controller that’s in beta and RB is watching it too, have you seen it. Thoughts?

Thanks as always for your generous compliments.

I checked out the opening stanzas thru RBs first post, super busy for next few weeks, will dig in later and follow as time allows.

Automation is generally a good thing, especially if you already know what you’re doing with the bits being automated. I have to be cautious myself, cuz sometimes there is a lot of stuff that isn’t of value to me and automation can lull me into a false sense of security, especially when hydro and other intense conditions can go downhill fast. i already have controllers doing stuff that i am willing to let go of and it’s obvious if they aren’t working. Maybe they can offer more...

We’ll see where their work goes. I like seeing people try to improve our lives.

Day 39 of ?84?: Comeback Queens! I’ll give em a few more days, then it’s back to the sunbooth.

Haze (front right) is bouncing back, with same size pistil balls/tops as unstripped one behind it; “diesel” clearly behind overleafed back one. Not even halfway (under std flowering duration, maybe supplemental reds speeding it all up), interested to see how stripped girls compare by end of grow.

Gonna boost cal-mag some more (nuther 2ml/gal) on back plants. Dropped rh trigger to 55%, now running 50-55 in tent (80-82F), 45-50 ambient in room w dehumid running full tilt.

Ppfd ~1050, all other controlled variables in range.
