Expert Seeds "Sweet Zombie".......

@SSHZ I came here quite late. I just bought Sweet Zombie from the Expert Seed bank. The seeds that I ordered has not shipped yet. I am in the US and I hope I can receive the seeds without any issue. Anxiously waiting. But, while I am waiting for the seeds to arrive, I was looking to get some education about the strain and when I googled online and came across your review/grow journal. It looks superb, but I am sure this isn't your first rodeo! I choose this strain because they advertised as it's early harvesting strain, high THC, high yield even indoor and it's India. These are very important factors for me since I am growing cannabis to make RSO for my husband's cancer treatment. I need at least 1 lbs (will get me 60g of RSO) as quickly as possible and this strain seems to promise all that. I know this thread doesn't have activities, but I hope you can still see my post and answer a couple of questions.
  • Your grow photo shows you are growing 24 plants. May I ask how big is your tent size is? I have 8'(L)x4'(W)x6'(h) so I am wondering how many plants I can fit in my tent and still able to water them and defoliate, etc. without moving the pots out of the way to get to the other ones.
  • You mentioned we should go a little heavy on Cal/Mag on this strain. If nutrition recommends 1 TBS per Gal, are you suggesting add more than the suggested dose?
  • Did you any stress training (HST/LST, etc) on this grow?
  • Did you do any defoliating? From your photo, it looks very dense, so I am curious if you did any defoliating some point during the veggie state.
Thanks!

Hi E.....I had to go back and re-read the thread to refresh my memory. To your points:

1. It's not a tent but a room built off my basement. The room is 10 ft X 12 ft but the grow itself sits in about at 7 ft. by 9 ft. area. I leave room on the sides to get back deep in the room when necessary. So, 24 plants packed in there.
2. It depends if you use reverse osmosis water or not regarding Cal/Mag. Since R.O. removes much of the nutes, I generally give 10ml per gallon. If you don't use r.o. water, 5ml (1 teaspoon) should be fine. Tacoing of leaves will tell you you need more if you see it.
3. I did not touch the plants at all. I like to let them do their own thing the first time I grow a strain. With about 2 weeks left in flowering, I start removing a leaf here and there to allow for better light penetration. It's a compact strain, I don't think it's necessary to HST/LST this kind of strain.
4. It did become leafy, maybe nitrogen was a bit high as I like to keep them green deep into the grow. I don't defoliate but it may be fine. Since I don't do that, it's hard to comment. To me, it's not "natural", but I see many great experiences of people doing it. But as a 30+ year grower, I don't do it and never have.

Any more questions, just let me know.

I just did another read thru......my first comment would be take them to a minimum of 9 weeks or a few days past that. I remember thinking most of the plants could have used more time, plan on going to 9+ weeks for some serious medication. I would also consider pinching the plant back a bit, trying for 4-6 main cola's and removing much of the bottom 1/3 branches. I had so much crapola that got wasted and thrown out. I average over 4 lbs a room, and this strain fell short because so much was under developed. Maybe even a longer veg period would be beneficial weight wise. Lastly, as I'm sure you read- the Black Domina is a well known leafy plant and that trait is passed on to these. There's not much you can probably do about it unless you defoliate, and I'm not sure this is the right strain for that.

GL with it.

@SSHZ Thank you for taking the time to revisit your old post.

:o I am hopeful! I post briefly why I need and what I need from my grow here. I have a finished basement but because of the open-concept layout, I had to put a grow tent in 1 room and designate the other small space room for growing. But keeping 5 plants and all of the equipment like Airconditioner/Filter, etc in the tent size 8'(L)x4'(W)x6'(h) or in the smaller room is not going to be easy space-wise. So, I need to select the right strain to grow. As I mentioned on other thread, my plan and goal is perpetual harvest using these 2 rooms I have available. In my head, I've grown cannabis million times, but in reality, I have a lot of book knowledge, but the very little hands-on experience when it comes to cannabis. I am anxious to start. I contact them with some questions twice already but no one has returned my email. I ordered seeds on 13th and as to date, my credit card has not posted any charges for this purchase. I hope I will hear from them by Monday. Waiting to get the seeds to seem forever, but it's only been 3 days. :)
// I wanted to send 'Thumbs up' for your post to acknowledge, but the option doesn't seem available for me.//

I am in IL, USA. After I post to you, I got an email stating that they shipped the seeds out and I should be getting within about 10 days if it is not held by customs, etc. (normal shipping duration I guess). I also checked my credit card after I received their email, the charges now went through. So, I guess I was a bit impatient. They are running sales and ordering 50.00 euro for free shipping, I am getting 22 seeds just about USD 61.00. You can't beat that price. I saw other sites people reviewing that the seeds that they bought from the Expertseedbank have high germinating ratio: 95 - 100%, which is nice to hear. I have ordered seeds from Ilovegrowingmarijuana.com and seedsman.com in the past for my daughter who lives in Mass and about 80% germinated. Also, the price from either place came out to be approx $15.00 per seed if including shipping.

Once I get the seeds, I will start to germinate and get ready for Jan. (Jan 2020, MMJ patient who has obtained the MMJ card is legal to grow 5 plants ), I'll have a few plants well into veggie by then.

My suggestion is to stop ordering internationally for seeds. There are numerous very reliable places in the U.S. now with better genetics than anything offered out of Europe. The ones below I've ordered from and have had no issues what so ever and usually get the seeds in a few days.

1. https://dankseed.store/h-d-s-c

2. https://oregoneliteseeds.com/

3. https://www.jbcseeds.com/

4. https://theseedsource.com/product-category/people-under-the-stairs/

5. www.seedsherenow.com

I have some discount codes for some of them, let me know if you ever need one.

Huh????/ Never heard of it? Neither did I until recently. It appears Expert Seeds is out of Ireland, but made up of a group of growers throughout Europe. It was difficult to find much out about their strains or the seedbank itself but I've seen a few good things so I pulled the trigger and started 25 beans, which all popped- 100% gernination.

Sweet Zombie is "Zombie Virus X Black Domina".......I know all about Sensi Seeds Black Domina, which I've grown in the past and loved the quality. Zombie Virus is a strain that was popular a few years ago, and the strain and the breeder appears out of business. Zombie Virus has a genetic background of BOG Medley/Sour Bubble/Rainbow #4 and an afghani. Black Domina has Northern Lights/Ortega/Hash Plant and Afghani. The Z.V. is 90% inidica while the B.D. is 95%.

Here's a Zombie Virus grow on Youtube:

And a strain review of Black Domina on Youtube:

As you have have guessed by now, it's a high yielding, short in stature, early finishing strain that smells like blackberries and plum- almost sickly someone said. It colors out at purple/black with orange hairs and delivers a full body high with strong relaxation and pain relief.

Below is a pic of the room, day 13 since popping. New entry's will be once a week, but I'll be by to answer questions and read comments.

I can't seem to download pic's right now but I'll post them when RIU straightens out their problems.
Assuming you had them shipped to the US. how was shipping from them ?

It wasn't much.........I'm guessing $10-$15 maybe. If you are considering getting them, I would look at 5-6 re-sellers and look for free shipping specials. Shipping prices shouldn't be a factor really, when you're paying $60-$100 for a pack of seeds. If it was me though, I'd buy directly from Expert Seeds to make sure the seeds are fresh. Otherwise, some re-sellers could have packs that are 1 year or older in stock. Check the Expert Seed website for shipping prices is my recommendation.

As I probably stated, I wished I had gone 7-10 days longer. Check my thread, see how long I went and add at least 7 days more to the flowering period. You should have inquired more though, a number of their strains are known to hermie and I could have helped you with that. For cheaper seeds, they're OK. But there's so much good stuff going on in the U.S. today, I think it's crazy to buy beans across the ocean anymore. Check out Archive, Dragon's Flame and Hazeman Seeds among others, and don't bother with Ethos as I've had many disappointments.

I will read your whole thread, the more information I learn, the better .

Now I was under the impression that although I could buy seeds in the states, it was safer to not because of raids on customer records.

I'm sure I'm slightly if not completely wrong

U.S. only............it's much more of a risk receiving things internationally, especially the chance to lose $$$$$. IM me and I'll send you a list of US based re-sellers, all of them I've used with great success. Most things I've receive in just a few days, as most send them priority 2 day mail.

Just popped some Garden of Green Larry Og, Blue Dream, and Phantom Cookies Domina as well as Expert Seeds Sweet Zombie, and Northern Lights, and all 20 seeds popped in 48 hrs and in 72 were up and growing. Ive spent a few bucks before on more expensive breeders for their suppoaed genetics but have been disappointed at times by the germination rate. Im super stoked so far at the price and 100% fast germ rate on these. Now I just hope the quality of smoke follows suit. Thanks for the Journals btw SSHZ great stuff ✌

I got a single seed of Sweet Zombie as a freebee with a seed order last year. It's finishing up now at 7 weeks flowering..

I add use calmag in veg and epsom salts for mag in flower at 100ppm. Not sure what your using but 1tablespoon per gallon sounds like a lot. How much ppm is that. I usually go for 1/4 teaspoon per gal with epsom salts or in veg 3ml calmag per gallon. Those amounts both add around 100ppm to my base
