Hi I've got a 6" ram fan blowing out of vent in a shed where the vent comes out of the shed the noise is quite loud any ideas how I reduce this noise I was going to put a box cover over it with some foam glued into it does anyone have any other ideas or recommendations what foam to use

The noise is a function of blade and air speed. A centrifugal fan is quieter than a blade axle fan because of the slower tip speed.
A larger slower turning fan is quieter, as are larger duct with slower air flow.
A large slow turning centrifugal fan with an air silencer on the discharge and a labyrinth on the air intake would be the quietest.
