Im planing on dedecating a cornor of my room to a small 400w setup, im wondering if i need air to be constantiy going out side. or is it okay as long as air is coming out of the grow section of my room,, .. im planing on having a 50" by 50" grow room , How many plants could that fit and would the 400w be sefficient light or too mmmuch?... Im new to HID systems

You want good air exchange for healthy plants.A 400 wtt will be plenty for that size space, and you should be able to do 8-14 plants. But with a 400 watter you are going to be putting out alot of heat.A good exhaust set-up is key to healthy plants and piece of mind.

Are you going to do Soil or Hydro

Soil, Im sure i can keep the air flow in the grow portion, but will i need to be contanstantly exausting air out that whole room or could i just open the window and put and exaust fan in it in the mornings and at night

This is what i drew for another member. This is obviously a more complex setup, but you get the idea. This is if you were using a carbon filter for the smell.

My plan was to stay away from and ducting just because of simplisity.. and im also using a vertical mounted socet and reflector so going right into the hood like that would mean cuting up the reflector... Would it be enough ventelation if i had a reguler ocelating fan blowing under the lights and towards and exuast fan with a carbon fiter?

You could get away with that. But you are going to want and make sure your exhaust fan is big enough for the job(since it is really the whole room)

He has a grow room sectioned of its not like he is hanging a light in the corner of his room with his window open.
pretty much a wardrobe grow.

If you aren't going to cool the light you are going to need to keep it farther from the plant. So the corner of the room will have to be bigger than if you were. Also, if you live in a warm part of the world, it is going to get hot with that light, not dargerously hot, but uncomfotably hot. And if it is hot in the room, the air in the grow space will be the same... fans do not cool air so much just move it.

I would try to get a little computer fan hooked to some flexible ducting somehow... shouldn't cost you more than $30. Have the computer fan sucking warm air from the top of the space into the ducting that goes out a window...

I know you are going for simplicity, but the balance between simplicity, space, and actual pot grown should be weighed becuase the simpler the more the other two will suffer.

If you live in a cold place it will probably be ok. If anything the plant just wont perform that well, you'll be able to grow something no matter what you do.

I Wouldnt mind puting ducting up in that cornor, but i'd like to keep it so its not coming out and runing through the room,, the cornor i was planning to put it in has no windows, so duckting would have to be layed across the room and out the window, not to mention the window would always be open ..

do the hoods have a sealed compartment for the air to be sucked through, if not, then wouldnt the air go through the hoods and outside rather than the filter?
