Entrance door to new 6x6x6 grow room

I'm building a 6'x6'x6' room. I have 1 wall to finish and this is where I need to put a door. I will be closing up two of these openings with some remaining plywwod. That leaves 1 slot for a door.

Questions:

1. Out of the three openings, which one should I leave open for a door? It doesn't really matter to me. Anyone have an opinion?

2. Instead of a door with hinges, is there a simple lightproof material I could hang at the open slot? (black plastic or cloth) Maybe one on the inside and one on the outside something like a dark room (if I remember them correctly).

Thanks all

yea the middle is where I'd put the door. Just use some panda film also known as black and white polly. Its really cheap and most hydro stores will sell it by the foot too

I was leaning towards the middle slot too. I'll check out the panda film. I have to think a little more on how to seal it up. Velcro? Maybe. Or just hang some on the inside and some on the outside. Or a combo. I just don't want to turn the door into a pain in the ass getting in and out.

well I'm building a PVC grow tent tomorrow hopefully as long as the store I was told to go to has the corner piece. I was just going to tape it all up except two pieces then put another piece of panda film in the middle of the two. I think doing that and maybe adding a little circle velcro on each corner would work fine

Nice setup
You could make a door simply, looks like ya u got skills. Cut a piece of brown masonite or plywood the size of opening. Cut two pieces if you want it covered on both sides but not needed. Then cut some firing or 1x3 stock to fit perimeter of masonite. Lay firing or 1x down on floor roughly the size of masonite. Apply glue on frame then lay masonite down on frame then pneumatic staple it one side at a time , to allow for ajustment. Instant door then screw a couple hinges to door then to door jab. You dont need to mortise hinges just get a little $1 slide lock. You'll be alot happier once done!

I'd put a sliding "pocket door" in the middle. The middle because that's where I'd want to have a walkway anyways, and a pocket door because it slides into the door frame meaning you can have trim around it on all sides to light-proof it.

Right now nothing is inside. The 400 in coming tomorrow and will be installed same day. No a/c, no de-hum, no heater. This room is out in a 40'x60' shop so the temps are what they are. We'll see. I have a passive intake down low and will be sucking air from the hood up through the 6x6x6 room roof. I will probably purchase a variable speed controller for the inline fan to somewhat control the temps. And of course I will have 2-3 fans inside. Shop temps can be 45 degrees in the winter and 115 in the summer

So without an a/c, growing temps will be too hot during the summer.

First grow in the new room will be Pineapple Express fem and Confidential Cheese fem scrogged. These were freebies. They are currently germing and the scrog table is already made.

Still need to finish up the door.

Fireproof - Sliding door is something I didn't think about. I like the idea.
PSF - Tarp zippers I didn't think about either.

Guess I better install that door ASAP.

Thanks All

Ya I know. Figured nice 3x3 - 4x4 canopy grow with some room around it. I don't need a huge grow. It's all personal.

The 400 arrived and is assembled. Today I bought some chain and eye hooks. It's now hanging in the center of the room. Time to hook up the exhaust with ducting and vent it out the roof.

The door - I called all the local hardware stores and nobody carries the tarp zippers. When I have some time, I'll make the 40 minute trip to Lowes and pick one up.

Seeds - Confidential Cheese germed in 24 hrs. Pineapple Express germed in 48 hrs. They are in party cups in FFOF soil. The CC is 1" tall and PE is just breaking soil. Both of these are under CFLs. Should have bought a veg bulb when I ordered the 400 but didn't. Need to pick one up soon.

400 should keep it cool. If you get a zipper door they let light shine through. Verlcrow is good. Doors are a pain, really

I was thinking of using panda with the tarp zipper on the outside of the door and a piece of just panda hanging on the inside. Kind of a walk through double panda door. Has anyone used the tarp zippers? Does the zipper leak light? Are they adhesive enough? I may just do this temporarily and make a real door later.

If the zipper leaks light, I think the "double panda" would take care of the leaks.
