ok so i was just trying to figure out if a 7 kw increase per hour is too much or is too suspicious for a 4 bedroom house. and if so what are some good ways to explain or show why you could be using that many watts

I don't want to break the bad news to you, but everyone I know that hasn't stole power and paid their bill on time has never had a problem and if you are worried about that already you'll be worried about everything. This job takes HUGE nuts and risks. Also keep you power usage the same pretty much all year around so they don't see spikes which could be a lot of things, but you don't need red flags. Depending on your house if they ever asked you could say "Your a welder, artist, make glass shit, or tell them to suck it and get the fuck out of here!" Google home items that draw a lot of power and you'll find a tons of stuff. There's so many things that could change the power consumption in your home like having a baby, hot tub, extra room mates, leaving the heat on all day, working from home, hobby's, remodeling, and the list could go forever. It's total BS about the power issues if you keep everything else in check. The real thing is to watch out for is NOT TO TELL ANYONE EVER NO MATTER WHAT EVER!!! NOT EVEN SOME GIRLFRIEND THAT YOU THINK YOU ARE GOING TO MARRY OR YOUR BEST FRIEND FOR YEARS!!! NO ONE EVER!!! Other then that fuck it and throw in 10 - 1k Hps, but keep the smell in check if you are in a area that needs to have this issue in check.

Once again NEVER TELL ANYONE OR SHOW THEM YOUR SHIT NO MATTER IF YOU ARE LEGAL OR NOT OR WHATEVER YOUR GAME IS!! IT'LL ALWAYS BACK FIRE IN YOUR FACE AND YOU'LL LOOK BACK AND SAY WHY DID I DO THAT...

ya machodog, i understand what you are saying. i have everything else figured out for this grow, i just dont fully grasp the concept of how much wattage is too much. i have a friend who use to work for a competitor electric company and on outrageous bills they would turn them in. i just want to know if my bill is going to be like 500 a month or something or if this is too much of an increase to stay below the radar

T-5 you always have the most useful stuff. that pretty much answered my question. only a $120 a month increase. not too bad.

A really easy rule of thumb I tell friends and other growers with relation to your electric bill, is generally 1000w per bedroom isnt going to spark a concern, cause heat issues, and should work just fine. In your case I'd say 4000 watts of light would be perfectly stealthy as long as you dont have a dozen college roommates who all play xbox and watch tv all day =)

haha nah nothing like that. ya im just making sure the elec bill stays stealthy because that would be the only way it would get busted. everything else is accounted for to handle smell and heat and exhaust

I guess to it matters what State you live in and who is the power company. I can tell you for sure that I have know people that have ran 10k worth of lighting in a 2 bedroom with large basement and never had a problem. When I did my room our power bill tripled and the electric company came out to replace the meter. Yes it did scare me, but what are you going to do? It really comes down to being safe as possible and having huge nuts even if you are legal or whatever you cause is. I have heard about more legal grow-ops getting busted then illegal ones because people don't shut their mouth. Also it probably depends on where you house is and if you have a garage or shop because you could have a 1000 reason why you use more power. Once you have it up and running though keep the power around the same usage so they don't see it jumping up and down every 2 months.

ya the power would stay the same since i would be running a perpetual system, getting a harvest every 8-10 weeks. one flower tent, one mother and veg tent. veg for 8 weeks and flower for 8-10 weeks.

Yeah that graph was nice T-5!! and very useful for people that don't know how to calc the cost. Also the cost of power changes from State to State. One State you could have $400 bill and another State that same usage could be doubled. Here's an older map of cost of Kwh per state.

tell them u got a hot tub, but aside from that. lower or raise the thermostat on hot/ cold days. put a couple gallon jugs of water in each shelf of the fridge and lower raise the temp a bit (the water will help the fridge hold a constant temp), turn ur water heater down. get little space heaters for winter as they use less power than most home units, put pcs on a timer or turn off when not home, cfl light bulbs will help greatly. the 13w are pretty damn bright. and make a habit of turning everything off before u leave. get a bbq so u dont have to use the oven so much. all of these in combination dropped like 70 bucks off my bill hope one of those helps seems as ur question was already answered theres some good ways to offset the increase and maybe keep ur secret that much longer. and remeber sit down and STFU losse lips sink ships :joint: :D

My central air A/C unit is terribly costly to run in the summers. It will take my electric bill from $180/month in the winter in $400+/month in the summers. My point is that 'spikes' don't mean squat. Pay your bills and don't steal, you'll be fine. If you're concerned about safety, odor is a MUCH larger concern.

well odor isnt an issue. 2 stand alone carbon filters, an 8x14 w/ 240 cfm fan and a 8x18 w/ 300 cfm fan. the smaller in the flower tetn and the larger in the room where the tent is going to be running at al times. an exhaust box with an ozone generator in it which will be in the attic.

don't mean to be a party pooper but one of the first posts in this thread contains plagiarized material.

the power usage calculator scanned image.

it's from sunlight supply inc.'s product catalog.

next time provide a source please.

mane this is the internet. plagiarized? you do know you can download any movie you want to over the internet. even some that are not in theaters yet. i dont think sunlight is going to take any kind of legal action, nor the GOV for that matter. if they could take legal action on stuff that went on in this site it would most definitely not be wasted of some petty plagiarizing.

if he doesn't give you a source, and you believe him, the dumbass is you, for not doing the research for yourself, and determine if its fact or not.

it's not about the gov't comming in with guns, it's about respect for the work of others.

anyone with even the slightest amount of respect for their self intelligence ALWAYS VERIFIES SOURCES. even for simple shit like this.

citing sources is crucial to the teaching and learning process. if you can't understand that, you clearly didn't finish highschool.....

and to affirm that i have in fact finished high school, but its the school system that teaches us that plagiarism is bad because of using someone else's copyrighted material.

but i do agree with you you citing sources would make the post and the material more credible and the information in it can be observed in its original format.
