If an illegal item crosses a Federal border its contraband, if a private company ships within the US and it crosses state lines its a felony. class d felony and $10,000 bond - pretty small change - especially if the accused is deemed a flight risk
more significant charges may follow - or not if they are willing to take 'cooperation' as legal tender
