DWC vs dwc/aero

Hello every one. I'm building some hydro units out of Rubbermaid totes. I'm trying to decide if it would be worth it to build an aero/dwc hybrid or if I should just got straight DWC.

I found a really cool video on you tube where they build a top drip/aero/dwc system. the idea was to use the top drip while the plants are young, then once the roots are established to switch to DWC/Aero.
What do you think about this is it worth doing or should I just keep it simpel and build dwc.

Here is the video if your interested.

Too complex and the misters will clog.

Just make a manifold using a few feet of 1/2 pvc one tee and two end caps and have the water stream out against the tote.

Flux, I built a tote with the water pump/PVC pipe and sprayers. My experience is that it's tough to keep the tote water tight with the sprayers and water changes are more difficult. I stopped using the water pump and went to DWC and didn't notice any major difference. Your results may vary, good luck with whatever you land on.

This guy does a super nice job on this tote!... If want a corner to clip on this i would just eliminate the top feed part... those roots will make it to the water without that part..

You'll save yourself a lot of trouble when the plants are maturing by segregating
your roots from your reservoir. I used to hate having to hold open a rubbermaid
with plants in the top while placing things in the rootzone.
