first two are smelly fingerez ( smelly cherry x super lem haze) 3rd is 2 toke killer, the bubbler is the next smelly fingerez. looks like it's eating the airstone, i gotta get a frame built for a 150 cfl to hang in. i bought an aquafarm and the thing is so big it won't fit in my veg space. :( i should redesign the whole set up but time is short.

Hey scroga yes i have trimmed root mass with no ill effects.. Go easy as some strains dont like it and they stress and shock out for a week or so before they start growing again but thats just the roots growing back.. I start all my babies in a nursery tub and most are all rooted together so removeing them from the nursery tub requires me trimming roots.. I would reccomend trimming roots anytime before flower id make sure they have a good couple weeks to a month to bounce back and be healthy again..
So ur keeping a mother plant in dwc? Ive tried that what i do now is take my cuts from my moms but my moms are alway from the preceeding generation like 6-12 week veg take my cuts cycle that mom in and have my cuts vegging to restart the cycle all over again so kinda pertetual i guess..

I never have tried. But messing with the root mass is generally very high stress to your plants. I would recommend trying this on a plant that you dont really care about first and observe the results. Or you can always just put her in a bigger bucket. I use 2 gallon buckets for my mothers and they are only to small if I let the plants get huge. Most plants will not out grow a 5 gal bucket. Otherwise a different route is to cut clones of your mom, and when they are well established, move the mother to flower and keep the best clone as your new mom and continue this cycle to maintain a mother that fits your space requirements.

Yea man fosho its def not something that happens naturally and not anything id do on a regular basis my rooted cuts only hang out in the nursery tubs maybe 3 weeks topps so my root trimming is very minimal and even so does shock certain strains out like said id def tread lightly so i knew how the plant was gonna react.. My babies get plenty of recoop time as well..
Id recommend just takeing cuts and flowering my moms keeping the strains around just keeping new moms from each cut i topp my plants and vegg my cuts so its like im always vegging a nice strong topp cut anyhow..
Its always been alot of work to really keep a mother plant for too long they just grow too damn and vigorous in dwc and the upkeep is just not worth it constantly trimming and maintaining a monster like that just for cuts...
I do recommend vegging as long as humanly possible i guess as long as u can veg keeping in mind my grow room requirements... More roots do equal more meds.. Lol the constant battle we face

Ok yea i wasnt sure if u where talking about a mom u been keeping for months or what but ur more talking bout a basic description of my nursery tub u will have root ball issues if u dont pull them pots up at least once a week and untangle roots just pull um apart im putting hygrogyme in mine case any brak off and die or if i notice a big ball being left behind i will just pull that ball out while im at it..
I veg my girl at least 4-8 weeks from there in there own bucket so those roots can grow..
Ur best bet is really just rotateing and keeping topps crom ur previous moms for future mom plants as u go..

But in that situation there i may get a little shock maybe most of the time not or not long cuz end result is ur gonna want to give ur moms and veggers space and room to grow includeing ur roots cuz afterall it really is ur roots that put the meds on theze treez..

Less amount of stress as possible to those roots man keep um clean and lettum grow..
Hope that helps im sure ur starting to feel that way by now anyway.

Yeah, that makes a lot more sense...the grand daddy purple ast back right has had a hard life! Would be over a year old..a stunted seedling that took for ever for me to revive..had clones cut off which all but 1 died due to cloner issues..
Has been flowered and re vegged... The rest of the moms are young because I've been almost struggling to keep up with demands of the flower tent due to herms here and there....does the root ball issue cause hermi? Just had feminized godberry show balls..??

Im no expert but im gonna go out on a limb and say res a tangled root ball will cause just as much stress as a plant thats overcrowded u will notice doing multiple plants per same tub that most of the time u will have ur strongest females in the tub take over and if not in most cases completely dwarf the weaker ones whether or not thats from root ball issues or just simple overcrowding idk but it happen and yes overcrowding can and will cause a plant to herm especially if it was meant too some plants are just weak anyway only the strong survive around here..
I really would think about splitting that all into buckets and utilize ur space more efficiently im saying u can move plants around and make a little more space in that tent if it gets a little overcrowded u know...
Multiple reservoirs suck thats why i made an rdwc but even so id rather deal with multiple res than overcrowding in the end ur better off.
