Dud Seedling?

This seed has a some issue coming up and I think its a dud but just wanted to get some input. First It came up with its shell on so I very carefully pulled it off. It looked like it does in the pictures when I pulled off the shell. It’s been like that for nearly 3 days and hasn't grown at all. Also I have another of the same strain planted at the same time that is growing very well. Is it a dud or is it just slow and when should I give up on it?

Does it still have the coat fully off looks like the otter hard part is off but the skin is still on it?

How big is the pot it’s in? And usually the shell falls off on its own without help, not that that would have done anything to it.

It’s in a red solo cup I just took a very close up picture. I think I just planted it too shallow as I was worried about planting it too deep.

I just watered it right before the picture. This is only my second time watering it the week since I’ve planted it. I always wait until the top is dry and then water it the next morning
That is still way too much water for a seedling. The medium should never bee that wet, for a seedling that young, IMHO.

id wait until more than just the top was dry. seedlings die from over watering. not saying you are. since the roots are not developed they pull moisture out of the air rather than the soil and the roots will die from being flooded.

If you had a low VPD dont the plants close stomata and pull more water through the roots? I will cut back my watering though thanks for the input.

The tip which I’m assuming is the curled up cotyledon leaves is kinda hard. I’m not too sure what you mean by the skin
I've had a similar situation before I pulled off the shell only to find a thin layer below the shell that was still stuck on it that I had to remove as well once I did that it took right off. It's hard to tell in the pictures but the top looks brown and almost like its covered up by the inner layer or skin

I took another look at it and there was a thin pale shell which I took off. I can distinctly see the leaves now although they look sickly. Hopefully it will bounce back.
