A few people are starting new journals so I thought it might be a good time to start one for me. I've been posting pics here and there but I feel a little homeless. I've recently moved, and prior to the move I harvested everything I had, finished or not, and tore everything down. After the move, and a little settling in, I got right back to work, starting pretty much from scratch. For this reason, I don't want to revive my old thread and decided to start all new here as well.

Other personal things have happened in my life recently that's bringing with it a lot of change and exciting new things, so another reason for my new thread. It's been a long time since I've felt excited about things in my life and I spend a fair amount of time here at RIU so I'd like to keep this ball rolling here too.

So, what do I have, you might ask?

I run 2 1m square tents with 600's in each. One is digital with a cool tube, and the other is, for now, magnetic with a plain open reflector. I plan on a new digi ballast in the next month, as well as replacing the cool tube with another open reflector. I'm drawing air through 2-6" carbon filters, using an 8" inline mounted over the tents in my drop ceiling. For vegging I have a large cabinet that I'm currently converting to a stealth cabinet, and in it I'm running 26W cfl's @200W total. This I plant to change out for a 4 bulb T5 fixture but most are 4' and my cabinet is not that wide. I can order a 3' to be made but that might be more hassle than finding an alternative veg cabinet. Also inside this cabinet I have my 6" Vortex inline and filter.

My soil is a mix of coir, peat moss, perlite, and vermiculite. To that mix, on an as needed basis, I will add worm castings, alfalfa, rock phosphate, Humik and Dolomitic lime.

Other nutrients and micros I use through the grow are; mychorrhizae, kelp, fish hydrolysate, activated EM's (effective micro-organisms), molasses, epsom salt and soon I'll be adding sea minerals.

I start my seed in a peat moss mix or pellets, soaked in a mild kelp/EM solution and mychorr in every hole. I'll get into more detail later about all that.

Currently under my one 600 I have 8 pretty girls flowering.

2 Deep Psychosis for Breeder Boutique
2 Casey Jones (freebies from BB)
2 Strawberry Sour Diesel (T-Light) Devils Harvest
1 Double Koosh Motarabel
1 Dog X Extrema.

They all were switched on Sept 6th.

In tent 2, yesterday afternoon, I place a whole bunch of topped plants into darkness to start sexing. They will get their first hit of HPS light this evening when lights come on. In this bunch I have a whole bunch of Extrema. Fourteen is what I started with. Also there are a couple more Deep Psychosis, some Hericules, a Calizahr X Caseyband and BSB X Caseyband (Highlanders Cave) and a mystery bean (lost the tag). These were all topped and cloned and most made it. I'm looking for the best female and male from the extremas. If all goes well, I'll make more Extrema from these two, and I'll harvest pollen from the male for future projects.

Out of all of this, I'm really just trying to narrow it down to a few good moms that I can clone from and maybe breed. At least for myself and friends. I have a lot of good people to pay back here.

So, gonna take a break and I'll come back and add some pics.

Cheers :peace:

Ok. So tonight was fish Friday, on a Thursday. A healthy course of seafood and effective micros, so while they were out I grabbed some shots to bring this thread up to day. I'm going to try to put a better effort into this one than with my others. I think I'll keep it to weekend updates, with the odd special bulletin here and there. Other wise feel free to pop by and say hi.

Strawberry Sour Diesel. Strawberry Cough X Original Sour Diesel

The Devil's Harvest Seed Company - Strawberry Sour Diesel

For the connoisseurs out there or those with a constant eye out for a new powerhouse strain to enhance their collection, the Strawberry Original F2 should not be missed. Straight out of the history books, the Strawberry Cough (Kyle Kushman) and Original Sour Diesel were united in order to extract the very best from both strains. Around nine weeks flowering will bring you a batch of super strong buds packed with juicy strawberry flavour, but retaining the hard impact and floatiness of the old-school Kush.

Hey everyone and good day. Just sitting around today, waiting for the phone to ring and surfing the web and ran across this great paper on Effective Microorganisms. This is something I've been using for a while now and I think it has a lot to do with how my plants are doing. This article does a good job of explaining the technology. The uses are numerous in agriculture, livestock and even Bokashi! It a form of composting you can do indoors.

EM technology differs
significantly from that of aerobic
compost tea, despite both having
benefits to soil life. In contrast with
compost tea, EM are cultured and
produced under anaerobic
fermentation and generally the
microorganisms are of a known
species and quantity. As a result,
EM are the most studied microbial
inoculants with overwhelmingly
positive results (in terms of crop
yield, disease suppression and pest
control).

This is the product I have. This is a mother culture that needs to be activated by fermentation. It's mixed 20ml Mother culture with 1L of water and 20ml of molasses, and if possible, you can add a few other things like kelp, for some help. Not much at all is required. So this 1L bottle will brew up 20L's of Activated EM. That is what I use on my plants. Foliar I mix around 1ml/L so 1:1000. Sometimes I'll go 1:750. Some feeds I mix around 1:500 or 1:250, sometime just to the water, sometimes added to the end of a tea brew, just before I use it. Once and awhile I give my vermicomposter a spray as well. Worms like this stuff, as well as all the other good bugs in there. This 1L of activated EM has seemed to last forever and it's my second one. My first one I ended up using outdoors and I just dumped the remainder in my finished garden. If I had growers around me to share it with I would gladly. The bottle of motherculture I have has an expiry date of late 2013. Maybe I'll Bokashi as well as Vermicompost. :hump:

I think that's about it. If I think of anything else I'll edit this post.

Is that right cheddar? That's good to know, thanks. You guys would know better than me. They're starting to get they're funk on and they're one of them I'm getting a nice citrus smell like oranges or tangerines, and then get a bubblegum like smell. What strikes me about this plant is the buds. They are a light green with the tiniest calyxes I've had yet. Thanks for stopping by too, appreciate it.

Well that's all good to hear. What's a pong? lol I'm gonna have a bit of a time with the accents and slang next month, aren't I mr west?

I definitely have two phenos in these Phychosis as far as buds go. One is all alive with pistils while the other seems to have little, and some time look pollinated (but they're not).

Wow! What a very busy night in the gardens. So much to do, so much to cover and it's pretty late but that's ok, I think I have one more bowl in me, it's quiet and I'm by myself.

Hey T and HC, glad you're here. I'm still moving in and setting up so grab a seat and enjoy.

Mr. West, thanks for posting that shot here. Where does the DP get most of it's Sativa from? The leaves on that Psychosis look a little more indica. I've got some comparison shots of plant and but between the two DP's I've got.

So tonight I spent a few hours in the gardens, mostly watering and flushing, inspecting, pulling out males...Everybody was very thirsty so I pampered them all with extra care and everybody is very happy. I've decided I'm going to name my tents/gardens, to simplify what I'm talking about, instead of tent one and two. So, call me a dork but they will now be Xanadu and Shangi_La with my older magnetic/open reflector being SL and my newer digital/cool tube.

So it's Xanadu in full flower right now and you guys have seen pretty updated stuff already there so not much more to say but I have a few new shots I'll post in a separate post. Shangri La is where all my other plants, in party cups, have been in 12/12 for about a week and are starting to show their parts. Their counterparts, the tops I cut and rooted, are all, but 6, vegging right now.

So I identified 5 males tonight. Three Extremas from the batch of 14 seed I planted. Two of those males clones are of the 6 that didn't make it so that's good.

HC, I had two of your beans going. One Caliband and 1 BSBxCB. They are the last I had of your gear and they are my other two males I found tonight. I first found the Calizahr and then was hoping the BSB would be a girl because I would have crossed them for sure, but nope, it's a boy too. They are both really pungent and the BSB has a nice bit of purple in the stems like the BSB girl I grew and she was like the colour of grapes. But that's ok, I have a plan for them I'll get to later.

I also identified a couple of Extrema girls already showing as well, and I think a Hericules girls too, but can't remember. Oh, and another Deep Psychosis girl. I'm not certain but I think these DP's are F2's, but I can't say for sure. So that's pretty much it. Gonna let them drink it up a bit and then I plan on taking some cuttings from the girls in Xanadu tomorrow. The way they look I think they're good for straight water for a while and then I'll hit them with a good tea for the final stretch.

Ok, time for the pron.

So here's the two Deep Psychosis Day 37 12/12. The girl on the left, as you can see is shorter, tighter nodes that stay opposing all the way up. She has the bigger, rounder buds with the more prominent pistils. On the right she's taller with spacier nodes, but her skirt is really stretchy. Her nodes start to stagger on the top and her buds are more elongated with hardly noticeable pistils. She also seems to be the frostier of the two, not making my decision easy. Only one gets to stay for a while.
