im going to be drying my buds here soon outdoors, i cant dry them indoors for certain reasons, but im wonders if my setup will work? i plant on putting the buds in a plastic box with holes cut in them , the buds will be hanging on a string in the box, will they dry properly? i wont have a fan, should they get proper air circulation? its starting to get kinda cool in my area , bout 65-75 degrees in the day and 45-65 at night and 70-90 percent humidity, do you think they will dry properley? let me know

I would ditch the plastic box idea and use a cardboard board box... drying wet buds in plastic is a great way for buds to mold over, since plastic keeps in moisture really good. Proper air circulation is necessary when drying in humid environments so make sure you have big enough holes for the wind to get in and out with out a problem... If youre hellbent on using a plastic container, buy yourself some dehumidifying (desiccant) powder at walmart or homedepot ... that should do the trick

jonathans got the right idea, some things to look out for though that can potentially ruin them, rain, frost, heat, humidity, ANIMALS, drying outdoors will leave your plants more succeptable to the issues that threaten drying buds, i suggest paying attention to the weather forcast, look for a week of good weather and plan to harvest then. good luck

i have had plants ripped up by someone who found them, apparently the just ripped them and tossed them as far as they could because i found some of them a few days later hanging in the weeds, suprisingly they were drying properly and what i did manage to find was killer smoke.

though outdoor drying does pose problems, nothing is impossible

I've been trying to plan something for this, but every idea I think
of has a downside. There's so many things to think about. They best idea I had was buying a small tent, WITH AS MUCH AIR FLOW AS POSSIBLE. Maybe like one you take to the beach to block the sun. That way more air can flow through. But still, a fan or something to move the air is needed. I've also though about the landscape around the grow. Position the tent in a direction the air flows easiest?

My brain hurts...will post any new ideas that come to mind.

A smaller version of this using black plastic for camo and sun attraction for faster drying and built lower to the ground.Have the sides about a foot off the ground and run wire in it for hanging. This will reduce rain and heavy dew exposure which would cause mold. imagesCASJXM1W.jpg

if you dont put them in a container of some sort, you can stick them in some thick shrubs that shades out most the light...think about how the stupid fuckin mexican cartels do it in their guerilla grows. They dry a hundred pounds at a time outside and its still smokeable smoke. Honestly that would be your best bet. You wont have any mold problems because the air is not trapped in a container. If there is moisture outside well that thick brush will protect the buds. Also the animals wont have an easy time getting to them either...the deer wont get them and if theyre hanging the rabbits wont reach them

^^mhmhhmhmm. We got some good ideas about!

BUDS- that was what I had in mind. Something to block the sun/weather/bird shit etc. But still have plenty of air movement.

About cardboard boxes- I would not use them outside. Too much of a risk for mold(if it rains or heavy dew in the morning)

I'm gunna go burn one, brainstorm some ideas.

Peace!

Thats why its called dirt weed. I would try to get them indoors anywhere before I left them outside to dry. Drying and curing are very important steps to having a quality final product. There has to be somewhere indoors, at your house, a relative or close friend's house. Just hate to see you lose it all.

amen,
if the RH is as high as you (OP) say it is, you'll have a hard time with this outside!
you need to get those buds up inside on some string for atleast a few days. drying in that kind of relative humidity means youre running a huge risk with mold and budrot..... i've seen colas that look beautiful on the outside but the entire inside of it is just rotten nasty crumbly shit....
whatever you decide we're pullin for you
goodluck
