drying buds

For some reason my chronic doesnt seel to smoke very well, they dont feel wet but they have a harsh smoke and I end up having to relite my J abunch of times just to finish it. the stems snap when I break em so whats the problem?
too dry?
not dry enough?

How do you know when they are correctly dry?

Are you not flushing or allowing enough time for the chloroform to dissipate? Both of those will cause a shitty burn.

Experience is the best way to know. But that comes in time. Mighty Buddah sounds right when he says you may not have flushed the nutes? That could be the problem all together. You should be able to feel the bud and if it feels damp or moist then it isnt dry, if it feels dense and dry then it it ready to smoke. I cant really give anymore detail to this. You could probably do a thread as to the details on it. Peace

How long did you do the paper bag method? Did you put into jars and 'burp' them for a few weeks? For the best cure you need like 3-4 weeks from harvest.
Did you flush the plant before harvest? Nutes & salt build-up will make the weed burn poorly and sometimes cause like a 'crackle' when burning.

If your stems snap... did they snap where there was bud growing or just the end of the exposed stem?

is your ash white. if your ash is black and ecky it may not have been flushed well enough. properly flushed weed should burn with a clean greyish white ash.

i flushed it fine, They feel slightly damp so Im guessin thats the problem. Dam I always too impatient when it comes to things....

my oven, with just the pilot light on, is 70 degrees and 40% humidity.
chop a littl bud up and set it in there for 15 mins. not the best way, but if your jonesing for a dry sample. it will probably still taste a little weedy but it will burn better. DO NOT turn on the oven.
