Hello everybody .
I just got great opportunity to buy D-papillon 315watt and Illumitex NeoSol DS 520W ,as a package deal for very cheap ( someone going out of business,and it will be brand new lights ) ,but i never use this lights before ,and i can't find any complete journals ,specially for dpapillon 315 watt .At other hand i already build few Vero29 units ,and few Cxa3070 units ,even one cxa3590 unit .But price for package deal is too great to pass .And i can buy around 10 units of each light ( dpapillon and illumitex 520 ) .So i was wonder ,if anybody got good experience with this combination of lights ,and let me know if this 2 lights really producers when it will be use in combination ,or i should stick with DIY stuff CXA3070 or Vero 29 ?

I can tell you the d-papillon technology is solid. They utilize the Philips Elite Agro 315w CMH bulbs. Although I don't own one of those, I use the Sun Systems LEC 315w (link) which uses the same bulbs/tech and they rock for flowering. I run 2 of them over 2x 3x3's perpetually and getting closer to 1gpw after only a few runs, still fine tuning. They run about $425 for the 240v and $450 for the 120v version when they have sales on like right now. Here's an example of a small and larger 3x3 flowering under the Sun Systems. I'd say as far as efficiency they're neck to neck with the COBs you mentioned. Cheers...

The Neo Sol using illumitex surexi F3 should be about 30% efficient, although I would like to check temp droop to make sure they are sufficiently cooled.

Also they are pounding the 660nm wavelength without balancing it out, maybe not the best approach as opposed to spreading the SPD with white.

You think Neosol will not produce ? Damn price is very appealing :)

No, that was one of many reasons I went with the Elite Agro's. I was running LED's in there prior to the these and my room temps increased ~2-3F over the same wattage in LED's. It's a 4x9.5x7' room, I use 4" inline fans for both incoming and exhaust and typically run the variable controllers between the lowest setting and 1/3rd. Pretty easy to manage from a heat perspective.

I know you guys don't like this idea ,but
I just got Illumitex neosol ds 520 and d-papillon 315 w MH ,i put it next to diy cxa3070 panels to do experiment ,so in 3 month i will see what is all about :).So i am very curios how it will turn around .So i am posting 3 photos ,one photo is where plants under cxa3070 and vero 29's ,other two illumitex ds 520 and Dpap 315 .Everything is still in veg ,till end of march .DSC_0065.JPG DSC_0068.JPG DSC_0070.JPG

Here is little update ,total is 21 day in veggie ,i took this photos almost right after i spray leafs .I don't know why people keep saying d papillon 315mh is great lamp ,may be it is ,but so far i don't see great results while i am vegging under .Not sure how it will act while flowering period :(
Diy lamps doing great ,neosol doing good too .But somehow i got feeling vegging goes little slower than i want to ,or may be it is just me ... Comments as always welcome :)

The d papillon reflector is pretty good, but it truly is made for an application where there's more than just one lamp. Those reflectors throw a lot of light off to the side, and if you've got a long line of them that means that each light is overlapping the one or two next to it...

I bet you're wasting a bet of light off to the sides of that reflector. You could add something for that light to reflect off of?

When i was sitting next to the dpapillon today ,i saw what you talking about .You think this light is more addition to grow ,and it is not good idea to run it as stand alone light ?

I think that that particular reflector is not designed for what you're using it for.

If you're only going to have one light above plants then you want that light to get reflected downwards toward your plants.

Those lights would do better with a couple of them in a row so that all that light getting thrown off to the sides by that reflector is aimed at other plants.

I think they typically use these in greenhouses or warehouse type grows, where you have a large canopy and these reflectors provide the majority of plants with multiple light sources of various intensity.

I have second dpapillon 315, but if I hang it next to other, then point of my expirement will be gone, so I will stick to single source for now :)

Good representations of the latest tech. Would love to see this play out and hear your thoughts along the way.
i will keep this project going trough flowering too ,around march 25 ,i will flip them to 12/12 ,also i may add few 730nm far reds lights ,i made few of them :)and i am curios my self how is illumitex and diy stuff going to work in flower .
