ew!!! shake!! i wouldnt pay 100 for that! no matter how bomb it was!
He used to sell it for $10 a gram...and compared to his overpriced mediocre buds, it was a good deal...once. Then last year he had some Mexi (Acapulco Gold supposedly) for $100oz and I bought a gram or two of shake and instead of the usual mix of little buds, it was mostly f'n Mexican!

He sells clones and is often out. I sold him a bunch intending for them to be available to the "collective grow"....never even one...but 3 months later he did have what he was calling "Kushwreck" for sale...had a pic of my bud and rated it at 9.5...made me feel warm on the inside.

I usually donate all my shake to the moochers...
Me too...The ex-wife would bong a turd.

Isn't it illegal to put a patent on a plant?
Patent #6,630,507

OK, maybe not a patent on the plant itself, but still quite interesting. And appears to be close enough. By the time all 50 states were to legalize medical use, I'm willing to bet that there won't be legal sanctioning for personal medical grows. They're waiting for the right time to rake in the dough, of course with the FDA and Big Pharma in kahootz with them. Medical users are fucked; even with health insurance possibly paying for it, as not everyone has insurance. Forget "recreational" users and growers. If the medical community is screwed, the rest most definitely is.

What do you think Big Pharma will do about prices? Create "fair" competition for independent growers? Right!

Sadly, once I discovered this patent, my hopes for legalization across the board were dashed. So long as it's predominately black market the prices will remain high (whether I like it or not), and it's not going to change because black market will ultimately be the only way to get buds instead of synthetic pills.

when are you going to realize that the only reason prices are this ridiculous is because there is no regulated market?

jesus, I've been chanting this throughout this thread and it seems like only 30% of you seem to GET IT.
For all the "regulation" in this country, why are prices for anything ridiculous? As much as I'd love to see regulation work, the fact is that it simply doesn't. Competition competes only with its direct competition, and consumers are stuck with paying prices set by those competitors.

states could manage zones in which hemp farms could be grown, and zones in which cannabis farms could be grown. like I said, plenty of room in california.
Now that is a dream world in which I'd love to live! Poplars, are you on anything other than weed? Pretty hallucinations are still hallucinations.

nope, just my own mind enhanced by weed.

and yeah you can't patent plants. that's part of the reason cannabis is illegal.

you can however patent the extracts of such plants . . . . . damn pharmaceutics.

see I think those prices are ridiculous right there. I wouldn't pay more than 200 for any weed . . . . . . can't believe they charge that much to medical people who need it for an ailment.

Interesting...Antioxidants are so important...it is nice to know we are flooding are brains with natural cannabinoids...legal or not that is obviously much better....the psychoactive effect is just a bonus!

The paper associated with the patent was interesting until I read this..."Fetuses were extracted by Cesarean section from a 17 day pregnant Wistar rat, and the feral [sic] brains were place into a phosphate buffered saline. The cortices were then dissected out, cut into small pieces and incubated with papain for 9 minutes at 37 degrees Celsius. After this time the tissue was dissociated by passage through a fire polished Pasteur pipette [..]"

Ewwwwwwe!!!! Go ALF!!!!

economics just kind of comes naturally to me. and all I see with the current weed market is flawed competition in a black market economy. so yeah, that's pretty much why weed prices are so ridiculous, for the /most/ part.

You mean you're smoking for the first time in a year? If so holy f***ing s**t congrats!

Seriously though that would be mind blowing to buy weed, like the dankest shit ever, for 100$ an ounce. I'd cum...no homo

Rather than expecting your brothers and sisters to commit discount felonies...If the prices are too high...vote with your dollar and do not pay the price...grow your own...go an a happy strike...smoke mexican...drink bud/miller/coors...If people did any of this...leading to lots of unsold buds...the prices (for those too lazy to garden) would come down. Coming on a grow site and either not growing or playing around growing a f'n quarter in a PC case...and bitching about how much you have to pay for your lack of innitiative, still strikes me as incredibly silly.

Is the price of such a simple good thing too high...Hell yes....But this site has EVERYTHING you need as far a knowledge to eliminate this illusiuon from your reality...OR (and this part I am not stoked about...but Let F'n Freedom Ring) a person could take all this beautiful, life changing knowledge, and choose to continue to play the monopoly game from hell that is the system based on scarcity and competition....and make a fortune doing something way cooler than conning people out of their savings...

It is not even these people who are really responsible for the prices being high...it is that every swingin dick wants to buy a pound, a half, a QP, an OZ, a freaking quarter...and come up large...or at least get high for nothin. The grower takes the most risk for the longest period of time, loving and caring for a crop...to have it stuffed in a plastic baggie and rolled in a flavored cigar wrapper so it will taste like grape kool-aid:roll:

We should all be saying...wow! can you believe how much everyone else has to pay for bud when we grow it and have more than we can smoke...so much so that some on here give away large quantities. IF I even tried to buy buds from a street dude...it would be awkward as they have not seen me in a LONG time.:blsmoke:

I think it really really depends on where you live. I know out west you can get your hands on some dank shit for super cheap...around here (SC) I can sometimes flip grams of kush and heddies for like 30 a g. People pay out the ass for good shit around here, I had an oz of a cheese strain last month and some dude offered me 115 for an eighth, that was some good shit though...

personally I'm willing to pay whatever it takes to get stoned, provided don't get arrested and I always enjoy it which I always do.

Atleast pot isn't as expensive as pretty much every other drug

edit/reply: dude can I come live at your house...guy with the jars

i pay 20 for a g of dank around here. Which is sad because i cant smoke dank anymore until i get a job. I honestly think im going to start growing soon. It would be so much cheaper and i would be set for weed

hey all, I'm sure this issue has been posted about before, but I want to get a poll on this about what people think weed is truly worth.

to me, I believe top quality bud is worth no more than 150 an oz.

but I would like to see medium to high quality bud for 50-100 an oz.

I'm just starting the thread on that note, I will explain why later on when I'm not tired and just now thinking of the thread.

so anyways I'm going to setup a poll and you guys vote on what you think the price for top-quality bud should be. and I don't think the prices should be jacked up just because someone wants to pay 10,000 dollars for their indoor setup that someone could achieve with less than 300 dollars.

anyways, let the discussion begin.

edit: by the way, we're talking in US dollars here. $$$
Sorry... but I can not wonder why someone who works hard and has to put up with so much flack and worry would just give there crops away....

Tell you what.... How about you grow some for me and just give it to me for free.

Sorry but alot of people need this and if you want to do it right and make sure that it is safe for human consumption... then it is going to cost.

Teach us how to do this on a measly 300 dollar budget and be able to keep up with demand... I am dying to here how you could do this.

Otherwise this is just an aurgumenitive thread and you sir are stirring the pot.

Forgive the spelling... I am better with numbers.

For those complaing about expenses being too high for MMJ patients.... Sure, I'd love to see prices go down, medical and otherwise. But when one really adds up everything, pot is still less expensive than most pain pills are. I know, as my insurance doesn't pay for many of them, and I've spent quite a fortune on pills throughout the years. And they don't work nearly as well as the pot most of the time, and then there are all the long-term side effects to worry about.... not to mention short-term ones like how easy it is to OD and become addicted, etc.!

This is why I decided to start growing my own. I'm extremely limited physically, and my daily maintenance of the garden renders me immobile, for hours if not the rest of the day. Still I stick at it, because if I don't, then I'll have to keep relying on street dealers (no dispensaries cause I can't drive anymore), and I'm fed up with that "scene" and the price issue I can control by just growing it. I'd rather pay a small fortune for an herb that is not chemically altered like pills are, is more effective on pain management than pills, and won't cause my liver to fail like happened to my mom last month. (She's about to be put on the "list" for a liver transplant, and this is 100% caused by all the pills she's had to take over the last few decades. And I'm following her path, as well as several other family members.) Why should I complain that what helps my chronic illness more than anything else does costs "too much" when those damn pills are more expensive and very risky to take?!

I may be legal in my state, but even without too much worry over the law I've still gotta worry about all the thefts in my area. All the thefts that have happened in my home already! We're stuck here for about another year. There is no choice in the matter.

The grower takes the most risk for the longest period of time, loving and caring for a crop...to have it stuffed in a plastic baggie and rolled in a flavored cigar wrapper so it will taste like grape kool-aid:roll:
HEAR, HEAR! I'd rep you, but I already did and RUI won't let me do it again. I've not seen one post by you in this thread with which I've not agreed!

Otherwise this is just an aurgumenitive thread and you sir are stirring the pot.
My thought exactly. ;)
