Yup theres zero testing on med weed in maine the state is trying to set up some but the big money behind med weed is blocking it. But once they start testing that will be the end of a lot of shitty growers. The med weed here is loaded with mold an chems but the rec weed is tested up the arss.

Most of the other dispensaries in my area are still getting $160-199oz. Why are these people giving it away.

In Ontario I can buy a pound for 5-600$ of primo quality.
Quad Oz's go for 2oz for 90$
I'd rather smoke my own.
It's a hobby and skill, I've acquired since I was 18. It brings me happiness, and I think about all the things I'm going to do to my garden when I'm at work bored out of my mind. It's not just about the actual weed. I have pounds on pounds just sitting around. It's also fun for me to make hash, press it and enjoy it that way as well. I give alot away to people who need it. It feels good to give back some and make someone else's life better without them having to spend the money they don't necessarily have on it. Then if you ever need a helping hand those people are more than willing to help you out. Full circle.

It's all about what you want to do. If you enjoy growing then grow it. I can buy a bushel of tomato for 20$ or spend 100$ and grow my own through the summer. I always grow 2 or 3 bushel of my own and make sauce, salsa, tom paste etc. It's not always about the cost for me especially. I prefer something grown by my own hand.

That's because they chop early and don't cure anything. My outdoor was ready to sample only last week. Shows you how they got farmers growing shit genetics the same way they grow corn and soybeans. The only way it cures is by sitting on the shelf because nobody wants it. By the time some poor schmuck buys it, the garbage has turned into crumbles and powder

The only way to get anything better than your average mids growing outdoors in MA is to invest in a hoop house or similar structure.
It's seems like anything left outside past Halloween becomes infested with mildew. Everyone is scared of loosing product so they all chop early.

I'm in ma too and I never got good weed from a dispensary but I also haven't been back to one in a while. Is it getting better?

It's garbage and they should be ashamed of themselves. Some young kids first experience with weed will be from that crap. Probably turning off a whole generation to it.

A little perspective here, I gladly paid $80 for a 1/2 oz of brown, seedy brickweed in MI back in the 90's. That's all there was. The stuff was so dry it would rip through rolling papers unless you absolutely powdered it. The taste was far less than amazing.
The quality of the legal stuff might not be great, but at least it's legal now.
Hopefully the shitty weed being sold will make generations to come want to grow their own, like we all did.
I gotta think 80% of the people at RIU can grow WAAAAAY better weed than what we'll ever see in stores.

I went to college in the early 70s. All the weed was crap. Seeds, stems, leaves. I recall hanging around the dorms passing around joints, and no one was getting really high. The coolest part was we were all 19 or 20 and knew we were doing something illegal.
But more than once I can remember saying if this is all there is to weed, then this stuff is not worth getting in trouble for.

I can remember hanging out at Nantasket beach late 60's and there were nickle and dime bags and QP were 90 that didn't last for long.
The internet tends to skew things, as most people on this forum are fairly successful with their grows. 95 percent or more of the people I know that smoke would not have the time, desire, money or ability to turn out a good cannabis product. Not like my wild cherry tomatoes that all I do is pick them.
There is a lot to successful growing of weed, I have grown over 75 types of bamboo a long list of water plants all sorts of garden edibles and none of them required the amount of work weed does.
I know of one person in my town that grew last year, he was a friend of my bodyshop guy. For all his work he got a oz in pop corn. I gave him a cola that was 1/2 oz from my grow.

this is pretty much how i feel about gardening in general. i have access to the most beautiful, organic, locally grown produce at numerous farmers markets throughout the year as i'm also a vendor. but i still dedicate 4800sqft of my yard to a garden because i honestly just love to grow stuff. i love looking at seed catalogs, deciding what new things i'll try. getting my hands in the soil as soon as it's ready to turn over, discovering worms, grubs, seeds from the prior year trying to sprout, insect eggs. in the summer months nothing is better than walking around the mulched path, barefoot, discovering caterpillars hanging out on the parsley and sun gold tomatoes that are ready to be eaten while still warm. fall explodes with more food that i can even eat, so i can, make jam, dehydrate, freeze, and i end up giving so much of it away. i spend waaaaay too much money on it all, between the new soil, amendments, garden gadgets, heirloom seeds, rain barrels, etc...but it brings me so much joy that it's not about the costs.
i'm pretty excited to add a few cannabis plants to the garden this year. i know i will spend $$$ and i could for sure just drive a few miles up the road to buy from the dispo and spend less. but what's the fun in that? being in a state that *just* went legal for homegrow feels pretty good.
