Does anyone water cure there bud?

OK, I'm going to do a little experiment. My son bought some good pot a couple of days ago; it's still green, soft and supple; it has not even been dried, much less cured. Last night I put about an eight in a container of water for it to water cure. I'm going to change out the water every day, dry it at the end and do a smoke report. I know what it tastes like now and it's pretty harsh, actually very harsh.

I did have a thought to cross my mind last night as I was looking at the weed sitting in/on the water. What if I added a drop of liquid soap as a surfactant to help it "get wet"? It may not even be an issue because it's about 14 hours later now and they are completely saturated but still floating. I think in 6 water changes all the soap would rinse out. Any thoughts on that? Here's a pic of the bud.
I would think the soap would easily be rinsed away within a few water changes. If your too concerned about it you could use some yucca extract instead........

the water cure is bringing out cool colors, the bud already is difernt colors. but after being in the water, it really brings out the purple/blue/gold/red. it looks cool because the buds are more compact now and that makes the colors overlap more i guess.

It's cos the plant matter is completely saturated and starting to leach things like its pigments, the chemicals responsible for smell and taste and all starches...that's where the extra weight loss comes from.

I was thinking of adding the soap on just the first one but I didn't. I figured it would all rinse out with the next 6 washings. Good catch on that one. I'm not familiar with yucca extract. If you ingest soap the worst it will do is give you the runs.

Your not sorry to report, your just sorry...

don't bite the dick that feeds you. please refrain from acting like an obnoxious sissy. on my thread or post towards me that way. seriously it's lame-o. You do not suppose he needs a plate or bowl/heavy object to suspend the buds in water? you know how you keep your head up your ass? kind of the same reference. except the buds wont be suspended in shite. probably why you spew so much... just food for thought.or you could just eat it and forget this ever happened.. either way who cares more than you? i'll post with "thumbs up icon" in thought of you..:finger:

Im also not afraid to admit the bowl dont matter if its plastic I was thinking of something else. besides people usually water cure in rubbermaid storage boxes. I happened to have curing on my mind at the time. you do not discourage me. you even discounted my advice or freebies (which this particular thread is) without explanation. I would love to hear your remarks sometime when you arent sucking lifes tit.

ok, so the water cured buds are now dry. the only reason i would recment WATER CURING, is to only do it if you dont have the means to properly air dry your buds. it kinda smells like pickles (i didn't use a pickle jar ether... LOL

The water cure made top notch weed in to just pretty good. Everyone that smoked some WaterCured comented on the New strain.. LOL because insted of smelling like fruit it smells like pickles, but not really a bad smell. It really bought out the Blue in the buds.

I think water curing would be great for MEDIBLES.. :) I am chewing a nug right now, and it doesn't have any bad/negitive taste what so ever.

My air dryed bud have alot more smell/taste to it.

I chaged my water a total of 8 times insted of 6. did not see any change in finished product

I think i will be water curing a samll amout of each harvest, to see what it does to each strain.
I am getting ready to harvest my last raspberry cough in a week, than it is ACE of Spades (TGA), than a bag seed from AFGAN from the dispensary(sativa phemo), than Bubba Kush, white castle, cali cheese, another ACE of spades, critcal mass, blue widow, than burmes kush. than repeat cycle :) so every two weeks i will water cure a differnt strain to Compare.

Pros: fool proof, easy to learn/master, good for medibles. good for unflushed/overfed buds .

Cons: kills the Taste/smell. Loss of trichomes in water(inless you filter it) It could kill the "BAG APPEAL" ex: make it look brown (mine anit brown, but i can see how it could do that to some strains

ok it is 100% dry now. taste is coming back. I wonder i whats the Ace of spades is gooing to look like water cured? it is pink/purple on the inside and green on the out side, so I am guessing it will turn straight PINK

Now you're just talking out of you ass. Those of us that are growing for our own personal smoke will properly CURE the bud (for the thousandth time it feels like) and therefore are not willing to starve plants near the end. The reason for this isn't just the benefit of a few grams, and that notion is obnoxious, during the final weeks not only are the plants putting on weight, but they are focusin on trichome production. As you're starving your plants during your "flushing" period you're slowing them at the time when they are finally producing the THC we want after months and months of feeding them while they grew useless leaves.

I can tell tell that you KushDog who claims such great and storied wisdom don't have much growing experience. You aren't basing your preachings on experience with unflushed buds based in reality. I know from my experience that you're full of shit.

School him school him good!

I never watered cured nor do I plan to but I seen it done they way I saw it the buds came back with almost no odor. Good if you want to take a baggie with you on plane.

I was smoking a joint indoors with people in the same room and they thought it was a cigarette I was smoking cos I watercured a bunch of buds before. That was AK48 too, which air dried is incredibly stinky, so from my experience it can wash away all smell and taste, except a very slight taste of hash and mint (cos the chlorophyll never dissipates fully).

OK, Mine dried out and I smoked two bowls of it. It's so smooth that I took a hit that knocked my dick in the dirt. I had no idea I was getting so much smoke (new pipe). The high is exactly the same, just less smell to the smoke and a lot smoother and easier on the throat. Personally I am probably going to stick with this; it's easy, fast and works great and I love the smoothness and the "less smelly" smoke.

I just tossed all mine in with the air dryed stuff from same harvest, it all smokes :) , the water cured stuff is alittle darker color and not as furity tasteing, but after a week & ahalf hang dry none of the buds are harsh.

Thanks for trying this out!
I'm about to do it myself with a small branch.

What about water temperature, is there an ideal temp? Did you do it in room-temp?
We all know cold water makes thrics brittle and fall off (water-ice-hash).

I just used tap water, normal temp. Of course Anchorage has the best tap water of any city in the world! Nothing fancy, just tap water, let it set for a day, drain it off carefully; do that for a week and a day of drying and it's a wrap.

If someone wanted to watercure all the time they have the option of using one of those multi-rack food dehydrators, apparently gets the job done perfectly in 4-6 hours.

distilled water, you want the lowest PPM possable, so the water can pull more stuff from the bud
PPM is based on the electrical conductivity of a solution, not all the things we're trying to remove from the buds by watercuring are electrically conductive...so the PPM of the water isn't important, and tap water works just fine.
