from what i have been reading your dry weight will equal 35 to 25 percent of your wet weight.for example,1 pound wet weight would dry out to a qp or a little more.im not sure just going by reading on riu,im also interested in this subject because im bout to harvest my girls.

Most people over dry their buds in fear of Mold, and it usually makes your smoke a little harsh, and new gardeners tend to think that the harsher smoke means its better. It isnt. The best smoke is nice and smooth.

This is how I do it.

1 Cut
2 Trim
3 Hang dry
4 Trim again
5 2 week burp event
6 Cure

I jar and start burping at 30% original weight. For a noob with no eye or sense of curing and troubleshooting I would start at 20%-25%.You will develop an eye for moisture in the jar and the need to dry more/burp the jar. Its an aquired skill that takes practice so dont set yourself up for failure, you need to really try on this one! If you screw this up your whole grow is trashed so dont try curing at any higher then 25% original weight until you have a few go's under your belt.

Anyways, twice a day I take every single bud out for an hour, thats what I do when people refer to "burping"

After a week I burp once a day, if needed. After this second week I usually seal em up until needed. Jars need to be kept in the dark. I do ALWAYS open up my jars once a month for 20 minutes or so, unless its old bud. After 3 mo's theres really no need and it will actually damage your goods if you continue to open the jar.

Peace and good times kids

You'll wind up with about 25% of the wet weight. It varies a little, seems the fluffier buds lose more - but roughly, 25%.

MatanuskaValley, you asked for a conversion chart and here it is brother. I have been wondering this same question for years now. I have never actually calculated it out though like this.

20.8 grams wet = 1.7 grams dry

41.6 grams wet = 3.4 grams dry

83.2 grams wet = 6.8 grams dry

Just use this as your example, these results are EXTREMELY accurate.

I don't know where that chart came from, but it is extremely inaccurate. According to that you would only get around 8% of your wet weight. Not correct. A 40g bud will dry down to around 10g, give or take a little for the strain.:peace:
