Does anyone disagree...

that it's better to run without reflectors and get as much flowering material exposed to the light source as possible---say in the shape of a sphere or a tunnel?

Anyone here ever tried such a thing? If so---like to hear about your configuration and results.

Absolutely not, a good reflector will not only distribute light well, but also reduce the 'hot spots' that your plant will reach to. If you're running high wattage lamps, a good reflector allows you to draw hot air away from the light via ducting.
