Do Trichomes Continue to Mature After Stem is Cut?

Will trichs keep changing color from clear to amber after being harvested? If so, for how long?

After finishing flush I am going to remove my cola and top buds that are mature and give the lowers a shot at getting bigger. I was thinking of starting my nutes(organic) again at half strength for 4-5 days while examining the trichs to make sure they do not explode in amber. I hope this gives a fresh boost to the growth combined with more energy since the tops stuff will be gone. Does anyone have an opinion on this technique and whether or not you've heard it is effective?

Hey goodeye, there is nothing wrong with that. Yes the trichs will still continue to change wen u chop the top. Its wat alot of growers do wen they wanna see wat the high is like wen trichs are mainly cloudy then wen they are amber. How long the will continue to change depends on the starin and wen u chop the top, u would jus have to keep a "Goodeye" on them lol

Have you ever heard that reintroducing nutes after a flush gives a boost? Is it very typical for small buds to increase with the tops gone, with or without new nutes? Most of my lower buds have seen very little growth over the past two weeks so I don't know if that means they have reached their potential and there is not much more I can do for them, or if there is always more to come after chopping the big stuff.

i posted a thread like this a ways back, got a few replies, but not a lot
so i've been watching my trichs post harvest, out to a year worth of curing
my experience is they do not change much, very little, i saw no progression to amber
just my experience so far

Thanks for experimenting with this. I just read that plants typically continue to experience any sort of development for no more than 7-10 days after cutting, so I would imagine buds on a stem with leaves trimmed that has already used up it's nutrients during flush and is no longer under direct light would not see any more than 10-15% more amber if any... just as you have experienced.

Hey man. Supposedly stays alive for a while after chop so in theory would still change colour. Also yeah you buds will get better if feed after your flush of you believe in flushing. Basically in the flush your starving your plant of nutrients to fatten up your buds and when you feed again she will take to them like a whore to crack :D

If I was you quit flushing and just feed until the chop or just plain water 1/2 days before. Then you will see a difference! But your call :) do the test for yourself. I noticed yield increase. Can't remember figures off my head but do a side by side comparison to decide what works best for you and don't let anyone tell you what's 'best' have fun experimenting yourself :)
