Do they lie?

"Purple leaves" is a very weak criteria for picking what strain to grow.

As you get more knowledgeable about growing and what you like, you start caring more about what genetics used in the cross rather than what the pictures looked like.
You sound like you've done this for a while.

Remember that urban legend that went around in the mid 2000's about how kush was made? Do remember people saying that the plant was sprayed with a crystal methamphetamine foliar spray concoction? Did that have any truth to it? Because THAT'S the type of weed I'm currently trying to replicate. That kush that was sold in tuna cans/sealed coffee bags that originated in western Canada. Perhaps you know which strain I'm speaking of?

It’s not so much lying as just photo casing the prettiest pheno. A lot of purples don’t really come out till mid/late flower either in my experience. My last run I had some th seeds pisthash that were all really pretty from like week 7 or 8 onView attachment 5148590View attachment 5148591View attachment 5148592View attachment 5148593
I love T.H.Seeds their melonsicle was a beautiful pink and purple. Their wy-kiki has a phenotype that turns a deep deep purple. The green phenos were more potent though. Back in the day I even had a cut of MK-Ultra that was purple

I'm puffing on some "Black Rose Runtz" right now, and it's pretty dark, almost black looking. Just found a viable looking seed in one of the buds too, what a shame. It's not really that good tasting though, IMO. Has low THC, like most super dark purple strains I've tried. Purple punchiness with a spicy bad aftertaste. At least maybe the growers fault, but probably mostly just genetics.. Not sure I would want to grow a "black rose" like strain now, however it does look nice, and pics online too.

Also, I found the half pack of purple unicorn f3 cross I stashed. Was gonna wait for a winter grow some day, but sounds like temps don't matter too much..

Nice pics, and thanks for the info SFnone.

Kind of hope I get a male when I pop them now :)

I think I heard a rumor sometime ago, that PU smells like crap until its fully cured. As in literally... I'm pretty sure it was PU, or some purple bodhi strain like that... I wonder if it's true?

I do like bodhi's work, and what I grew a few years back was really f'ing dank, and unexpectedly pink and purple as a bonus with colder temps.. I'm excited to try out all the newer packs I collected, especially the purple unicorn x jalahabad star now. Multiple threads around here about all the different crosses, and members posting great results/reports.

I'm pretty sure that PU is still bred, in the current line-up as well.

Oh and if your in the US, GLG are awesome, and so are the freebies they send out. Even if someone else down the line was lying, your getting something good either way :) Almost everything I grow in the greenhouse colors up in October-Nov around here.

I gotta admit though, i've seen a million pics of purple this or that online, and it was all green, lol.

I dont know much about canada cannabis other than the time I went to whistler and we scored an 1/8th from this sketchy old guy by the coffee shop at the end of the village and that shit was super dank. If you like Kush strains Karma genetics is where its at.

I was considering this plant https://bcbuddepot.com/marijuana-seeds/bc-bud-depot/socal-master-kush-copy/

Will the purple hues in the plant happen though? Or do I have to do certain things like let the plant get cold? I think the other plant looks bett er but that's just me
It's touch and go, you can't really guarantee. here's two GDPs from the same pack of seeds grown under the same conditions as an example of phenotypic variation. In identical tents with identical light, ventilation and feed. One green and one purple.

There are a lot of reports of that- that it stinks- but everything I've had is'nt super stinky. Quite the opposite actually. More like a mix of sour blackberries and the way a forest smells right after it rains... a clean, wet cedar and pine, menthol mist kind of thing.

If you get a male and female, definitely make seeds. The f3 crosses were originally only supposed to be testers, but everyone who got them seems to have made seeds, and Bodhi has since moved on from the f3 dad to at least f5, so I think it's acceptable now to reproduce anything with the f3. Maybe even encouraged for preservation's sake.

Will do. I got some soulmate starts going right now. Figured they were the oldest seeds, from like 2018 I think, so better germ them first. Hoping for a real piney pheno ;)

Maybe i'll cross it with the purple star, and call it Soul Sistar ;)
