Do they lie?

The seed banks, do they lie about what the plants look like? Am I setting myself up for disappointment as a first time grower by choosing an ultra sexy looking plant to grow because of the way it looks? I saw purple leaves in the picture advertised, I WANT purple leaves!!

So do they lie? Or do I get what I saw and paid for?

It's not just seed banks. You learn breeders and banks who carry reputable breeders. Take a dive into breeders near you and see what banks carry them. No matter what a seed bank cant guarantee you results. You the grower have to unlock that potential.

Every plant has pheno types (popular looks/traits expressed in children) so you never know for sure what each will look like. The better the breeder the more likely they have narrowed down thru genetics a guarantee in a good plant and a 1 in 10 or 1 in 20 chance at a prize pheno. Usually out of 20 beans u can find a jaw dropper from the right breeder but all should be good to great

If you had multiple cuts of a clone of a plant in different environments down to the type of nutrients all can affect the final look, color, taste, smell, thc %, etc. When you purchase seeds of a strain you can at least to expect to find anywhere from 1-6 different types of expressions aka "pheno" types.
Some of the strains I re run in the winter have dark purple flowers while in the summer they're less purple and more of a light green appearance because the environment is slightly colder in the winter and slightly warmer in the summer. If you're looking to achieve what's in the picture pop more seeds and explore whats available in your seed pack. You may find one or more looking closer to the photo. Or getting a CUT of the actual plant shown in the picture if the bank carries cuts.

Pictures are generally meant as a tool to sell something. Doesn't mean they are lying, but there's a good chance your plants will not look exactly like the pictures... especially if you are a first timer. And color can be pretty to look at, but it doesn't add anything to the high.

The only strain I've found that turns deep purple every single time, is Bodhi's Purple Unicorn.

More than likely you are seeing pics of their prized pheno. Likeliness of you finding a twin… slim pickins.

It’s not so much lying as just photo casing the prettiest pheno. A lot of purples don’t really come out till mid/late flower either in my experience. My last run I had some th seeds pisthash that were all really pretty from like week 7 or 8 onDBE813DE-3DEC-4BF8-871E-4BC07A1DD8A3.jpeg6A192DB4-C12B-4D09-A59E-82625EA25A3D.jpegF55F1D95-9E3C-420E-BDD2-3B922E3B59E8.jpeg04207A76-D977-4C72-99AD-3E3F83A37A21.jpeg

White widow auto humble auto and og auto flower from seedfair
I’m crossing my fingers lol
will I get the purple leaves though?
Gotta grow it healthy from beginning to end.. you could surpass the advertised numbers. Takes time & dedication.
That’s for sure. I’m doing a lot of rotating my pots and leaf tucking I was playing with the light height and intensity. I think I have it dialed in. Im having fun and learning a bunch. This is my third time but I made a bunch of improvements. I was working with almost nothing the last couple times but still managed to make it work
