The Homemade Method

This is the easiest and cheapest method. Things you will need:

  • Activated yeast. It is used for making bread and can usually be found in a supermarket or health food store.
  • Sugar.
  • A container. A large bottle will do. Two separate bottle caps can come in handy.
  • Some thin tubing.

If you want a larger setup just use the same measurements on a larger scale. This system will work from a 2 litre bottle:

  1. Make a hole in the bottle cap that's slightly smaller than the tube.
  2. Push the tube through and make sure it is airtight. You can use glue or any type of sealant.
  3. Pour a cupful of sugar into the bottle.
  4. Fill it less than 3/4 of the way up with warm water.
  5. Using a different cap, close the bottle and shake it until the sugar disolves.
  6. Add 1 tbsp of yeast to the mixture and shake again.
  7. Place the cap with the tube on the bottle.
  8. Put the bottle into your grow room, leaving the end of the tube where you want to release the CO[SUB]2[/SUB].
  9. You can put little holes along the tube if you would like the gas to spread more evenly.

The yeast eats the sugar and gives off CO[SUB]2[/SUB] as a biproduct. The more yeast you use the faster it will produce CO[SUB]2[/SUB], the more sugar you add the longer the mixture will keep generating. You will notice bubbles popping up to the surface within a few hours. Shake the bottle every day or two to speed up the process. After a couple of weeks you will notice the bubbles stop appearing, and you need to create a new solution. Wash everything thoroughly.

Hey man, I did this for a full flowering period with 6 bottles and it did not show any real differences one harvest to the next. The CO2 comes out in random emissions/burps, it smells like ass, and with CO2 if you have fans and venting itll all be sucked out of the room anyway :/ It's a clever idea and a simple DIY project, but you'd be better off brewing beer for yourself and putting the burping tube in the tent. The CO2 still wont do much but at least you'd have some beer :bigjoint:
