Discovery Weed Wars

Great. Another chance for major media to portray cannabis and MMJ users as stereotypical potheads. Lazy, hippy, deadheads who don't shower and play video games all day instead of working. I can't wait.

have you done anything to re-educate people around you?
I've changed so many peoples minds about cannabis. they all think its a brain melting, psychosis causing drug BUT once they either read or watch a bit of REAL information they get hooked and cant believe it.
I challenge people to prove my points wrong. the masses including my family and ME are taught that this shit is bad and taboo all our lives. its gonna take a lot of talking to people to get this out and its working!!
dont give up !!
on the other hand. i know what you're saying, and it pisses me off too. JUST the term "stoner" alone fucks things up in peoples heads.
fuck, using cannabanoids DAILY is safer than having a glass of water in MOST of the world.
safer than advil, crossing the road, sleeping ... you know? :) im pretty sure discovery is canadian. lets hope they hold it down.

Think what you want, but I dont think this show is gonna do anything for our cause. As Potheads we all should boycot this show.

fuck you if you dont like what non smokers think about a burnout, I love weed, every single thing about it. its more than a plant we smoke to get high, it is a way of life, a philosophy in and of itself. Nothing else on this planet has the culture behind it that weed does. I have never met a pot plant i didnt like, met a few I wouldnt smoke, but still appreciate them for the beauty they are.

My first thought when seeing the commercial for weed wars was "oh. no, thats not good." See, discovery thinks they can hop on the weed bandwagon, and make money off it like they do everything else. They think they can make us believe they are our friends, and part of the subculture, they stick out like a narc at a frat party, just saying. this show is like the undercover cop, trying to make a true pothead believe he loves the ganj as much as you do.... they always fail.

This is the yuppy thats thinks its kool they can afford a 500$ OZ, and get baked off a single hit. They like how they are so mainstream, and hip to what the kids are into. im sorry, this show is not going to help. They want to celebritize something that already has all the notoriety it can handle.

What they dont realize is this is not what we want, most of us just want to be left alone while we enjoy our fav herb, we dont want to be criminalized, and penalized, for enjoying a fucking plant that will grow in the ditch if you let it. we dont want the sensationalism, we dont want people who think pot is bad to have any say in what we do. hell I dont want people who think pot is as wonderful as I do, to have any say in what we do. Its my choice to do what I want.
always has been, always will be.
Cannabis is a simple plant, and a simple people enjoy it, however the culture that surrounds it is very complex. you cant fake being a stoner, burnout, pothead, or any other name you want to put to it. simple as that. any one who cant handle that can fuck off.

Im a pothead and proud of it.

Sorry, just got up, havent had my coffee yet.........

I never went to work today.
I smoked a J this morning and fell asleep again.

I just woke up.
I just rolled another J.

I just booted up my xbox..
I am not leaving this recliner for hours.

im feeling this. for real.
As a person who wishes everyone would fuck off and mind their own business, I have to agree.
PLUS; i dont watch TV. (movies, ps3 etc. no cable bullshit) SO, i hadnt seen any ads for this until 30 seconds ago on youtube.
I see now.
As someone who is also heavily tattoo'd i also wish people would fuck off and concern their judgements with something else more important.
miami ink etc fucking ruined our community and filled it with wannabees.
I do believe tho that if everyone understood about how simply amazing this plant is they could take it for what it is. and see through the bullshit (media).
I smoke ...constantly? i guess. im always floating, anyways, people around me used to think "hes high on drugs, its not good" now they tell me to roll one up before we go out so that im good-to-go :)
they see its harmless.
i AM a "stoner" but i hate when people say that. i feel like "stoner" is more of a description of a "burnout".
i told this guy at work that i blaze and EVERY convo after that he started talking like chong. "yaaa maaaan" and all this BS.
he was tryin' to fit in to a world he doesn't understand.
so, show looks pretty ass.
and im going to play ps3.
see ya online... peace

I did a few days of filming with Discovery Channel last year. I dropped out of the project (now weed wars) because I didn't trust their portrayal of MMj. We shall see how this goes. Hopefully it pushes some legislation in the right direction.

ive been at two dispensaries that discovery channel was filming at in Boulder. not sure if it is realted to weedwars but they were here for 4:20 at cu and following around a dispensary owner for a week. It was a three part series dont know what the other part will be about. Was actually going to do an interview at one of the dispensaries but the patient before me took an hour somewhat selfishly getting his meds so there was not time. Prob for the better now that I think about it but regardless had to wait an hour for my meds

The show portrays Harborside folk as inept, foolish stoners. This is not what we need, on the one hand Harborside is business oriented, professional and compassionate, Discovery's portrayal is of folks who can't mount a decent defense to local tax encroachments and IRS requests. It shows every supposed business leader in Harborside copping a major buzz (FOUR extra strenght edibles?) before business meetings and conferences because they are afraid they may forget how to relax.

This for the most part does not promote our cause. the kid with severe seizures not withstanding.

Yep pretty much what I though of the first show as well, I didn't get to see the second one, but can't think it's any better then the first. For a bunch of people wanting to change the way government and anti weed peeps, see's MMJ these clowns are doing their best to look stupid on nation wide tv.

yea i didnt like the 4 cookies bit either.
and ya they cant argue worth a shitz to the tax men. i mean shutting down is not an argument if thats what they want you to do in the firstplace.

and the grower with mites, well, thats what you get for working in the clone dept while growing. at least he didnt get root aphids. like the other dude. but glad he got rejected.

yea i wasnt a big fan of 4 edibles thing either esp that they made it seem like he was medicating heavily and driving which sets off that neg connotation for the responsible patients.

and there was his little "I absolutely hate being late" comment. The guy hates being late but he gets off late and then rather than ensure he makes it to the conference on time he makes a detour to his office to pick up some meds, in order to keep himself from being so stressed over being late. Hey, that looked pretty bad to me, smoke all you want but don't start in on those stupid cycles of excuses for your excuses.
