It's halfway through 2012 and i would suspect that there is a digital ballast on the the market by now. But nevertheless it's proving difficult to find. I posted this up because i could imagine alot of other people who want to save on electricity and avoid excessive heat, am i right?
The only people who have hinted to such inventions are Phillips them selves and a company called Glo-Green but apart from that, jack!

Here is the link to Glo-Green. http://www.accendoelectronics.com/GloGreen-Digital-HID-Ballast-Fixture-Products.shtml

" One Ballast, Many Solutions.
Multiple Bulb Capability; GloGreen Digital HID™ ballasts power Metal Halide (MH), Ceramic Metal Halide(CMH) and High Pressure Sodium (HPS) lamp sources from 50W to 1000W with ultimate efficiency. "

I cant find anything on Philips atm, if anyone comes across it make sure to post up!

So has anyone heard anything on the grape vine.

It is now half way through 3013 and here is the second post...
Next to no info on these at all for such an awsome sounding product...
Use 200w digi ballast to power 400w lamp!
95% lumen maintenance even for hps mh!
And if you were using the 7or800w cmh you would be saving oodles on your power by not having to waste energy using a 1000w ballast.
Im not trying to be a nay sayer, but would like to know if all this is really possible. Or is it jus marketing bs.
I need to upgrade to a digi ballast. Want to run 2 400cmh on a flipflop...
I hope they still put out a lil bit of heat cos I trying led atm but my temps are like 18degrees without a heater! So I want the cmh to hang with the led primarily for heat but theres great reports on that combo aswell. I think it might b the go ay.
Anyone tried one of these greenglo or any other digi ballast for cmh???!!!

it seems CMH (CDM) on digital ballasts is a mystery.

I have 2 DNA digital ballasts now which are sold with the 860 watts, but one came busted...and the availability for a replacement is seemingly an issue (estimated 3 weeks). The other runs pretty well. very cool and quiet. there is a slight light flicker...not terrible but there. I have the bulb in a sun systems luxor 8" hood.

I have been reaching out to a few digital ballast companies to see if they will confirm or deny their digital ballasts will run the AllStarts 860s. I will keep you posted what I find out. I also called Philips tech support and was told about two choices for magnetic ballasts to run. when I asked about using digital the guy magically had no idea what I was talking about, and breezed past the subject. fishy.
