Difference Between Curing and Aging

Terpenes are 100% a huge part of a quality smoke. They enhance the high and alter the effects. They provide the delicious flavors and smells that the cannabis flowers produce. The terpenes are one of the major differences between cannabis varietals(strains). The idea that terpenes are a bad thing is just silly.

No you don’t want to smoke pure terpenes, and I definitely don’t want to smoke non cannabis terpenes. However have you ever had distillate which is basically pure decarboxylated THC or diamonds which are pure THC crystals. Both of these extracts are stripped of the terpenes and it makes them boring to consume imho unless the terps are saved and added back. Don’t confuse adding back the natural terps with adding other terps though. I hate concentrates with non cannabis terps added because they always taste fake.
This is precisely why there are flower connoisseurs and then those that prefer concentrates. Some like both.

The terpenes are what makes strains unique. If cannabis was just THC then those distillates would be just as fun as flower...but they are not.

All the nuance of strains is lost in many methods of concentration. In some cases, usually expensive, they will distill and redirect the same terpenes back into the concentrate. Its been real pricey though from what I see.

Same is true for edibles. Use distillate they are all the same, of course strength matters but try making them with flower and the effects are completely different. Medication vs fun factor imo.

Moat important imo is that threads like these are not pissing matches. If im wrong cool i will learn and if someone else has misstated something....big deal, maybe we can change each others minds.

I don't know, maybe the terps have some positive effects on the high, when I make extract from cured weed it's better than from uncured weed though. I made hash from cured weed and everybody liked it, then I made some with uncured weed and everybody said it wasn't as good, they were griping. They were right though, it was harsh and weaker. I didn't think it would make much difference but apparently it did. And by hash I mean I made extract and then mixed it with sifted powder from the extracted buds to make a putty type hash. The hash I made from the cured weed smelled exactly like real imported hash while the stuff I made from uncured did not. So I guess I won't make anymore hash from uncured weed, it sucks compared to hash from cured weed, and obviously same with the extract I made the hash from. Just people don't like extract so I had to make it into hash, they liked that, at least the first batch from the cured weed.

If you wanna make hash just make hash it would be way less work then making an extract and then mixing it with “bud powder”.

Well made hash should have terpenes in it too and have delicious flavors and smells, curing/aging the hash can make those smells change some for the better, while some disappear. Just smelling “like hash” implies a lower quality to me. Even with hash I want to smell and taste the nuances of the flowers it came from.

While you may enjoy cured resin more then fresh resin that’s an opinion.

Terpenes effecting the high and being where flavors come from is not an opinion that is a fact.

Whenever I tried making sifted hash I got very low yield. I get a lot more by extracting and then mixing with powder. Besides, trichome stalks are harsh. Using some good quality powder to mix in, the extract hash is much smoother. I guess people get good yields with dry ice hash but it's largely trich stalks, which obviously have no THC. God knows what they're made of, probably cellulose. Bubble hash is mostly trich heads but yield is low.

sometimes you have to sacrifice a little yield to get better quality.
I suppose, but it's also more trouble. If you don't mind going to all that trouble then I guess screening would be as good a method as any. It has never worked out well for me though so I stick with what I know works and is practical to do.

Yep live resin extracts definitely have outstanding flavor.
Yeah but how is the live resin extracted? If you mean "rosin" then it's a rather dirty product, because heat also melts plant wax, which melts at about 70 C. That's why rosin rarely tests higher than about 60% THC/A. What's the other 40%? You would have to dissolve it in alcohol and put it in a freezer to get the wax out, and if you were going to do that then you might as well just extract it with alcohol to start with and save yourself the expense of a press. And if you mean butane extract then that's too dangerous and troublesome to do at home. The only practical extraction method that produces high quality product is alcohol in my opinion.

Extra cold Alcohol extraction is actually my preferred method :).There is a link in my sig line for roughly how I perform my extractions. I don’t use heat during my evap which retains more of the delicious terpenes.

However I’ve seen excellent quality bubble hash, and dry sieve but those are generally more work then I want to put in.

Is there a step after making the bubble from fresh frozen for it to be considered live resin? Or is what is collected straight from the bags (talking IWE) live?

weed declines in potency due to oxydation and light pollution where THC degrades to CBN, terpenes in proper doses have health benefits and are the cause of entourage effect, many labs define herbs variety (indica/sativa) by presence of myrcene terpene which is responsible for couch high, and it helps THC get trough brain-blood barier easier (mangos), not by seed genetics, inhaling pinene can reduce effect of psychoactive effect of thc...
