its not luck. you became too involved and he thought it was getting too girlfriendy. he just wanted to get blown and/or fuck. he got scared and bolted, and now that he is talking to you again, he doesnt want to start the process again, so he says he wants to be friends. this means he wants to fuck someone else.

i remember in high school days all the stupid shit i worried about. i literally dont think about any of that anymore, and im still in my early 20s. shit changes after you stop living in that seperate culture every day. best advice i can give you is just be yourself and someone will find you. dont expect to find them, otherwise you will cling to every new guy you meet in the hopes that he is that one. if he really is someone for you, he wont like the clinginess anyways. so just relax about it and find a friend.
