Did HLG Just Kill Timber’s Quantum Board Business?

Might not even be on HLG, really could be anything. He says in the comment that they are still selling them. So
Always ciuld be anything...

But:

Who got hurt by having their boards in another company’s better product at a much lower price?

Their stuff was pretty comparable in price to HLG. I mean their 4 boards are comparable to the HLG 600. everything else I see is priced around the same or more than HLG. https://www.ledgrowlightsdepot.com/search?type=product&q=timber

Do you think that if they stopped doing business with HLG they would still sell the product? I guess maybe if they were selling their stock.
And also if they buy boards at Wholesale, and make a cheaper product, because they don't get as much return. Is it really their fault?
It is really weird either way.

Maybe Timber just want to break away from the QBs to make room for a new project of their own, a new board or strip with incorporated far red or something to separate their fixtures from others. USP and all!
That would make more sense to me than HLG cutting off supply of a board they make and sell to Timber.

End of the day though this is all speculation and does nobody any good. Time will tell the full story.

Dan told me in august they had 300 boards, didn’t expect to run out anytime soon.

Sounds like you either have an agenda, or don’t understand the fixture biz. Timber bought the boards at whatever price, added significant value with timber’s fixture design, then sold the high-end (meaning, very profitable) product at a lower price than hlg.

Reading between the lines some more, seems hlg allowed them to sell existing inventory (at least) as custom fixtures. The lemonade out of this lemon for timber aficionados.

They just introduced the product line in August, lots of great reviews!

Legal issues w hlg, and probably an nda, i’d bet my two 48sams on it!

Been thru this shit in one of my biz’, this is how it looks from outside...

First dan had to change hlg board reference to “samsung” on website, that apparently wasn’t good enuff, now product line gone but custom builds available...we’ll see if it ends there.

Fuckers!

I didnt know throwing extrusion profiles on QBs made them "highly valuble". The 8020 profile or 2020 profile isnt very expensive. And anyone can do it. Like I said, they cant undercut what they HLG sold them the boards for.

I’m nit honna argue with you, you either have an agenda or you don’t understand how business works. Believe what you want.

How do I not? Lmao. If you sell a product for 70$ to the people. But wholesale you sell it to me for 30. I make a fixture and sell it for 65$. How is it my fault I'm taking less of a profit and giving the public a product. Where is the problem with that.
I dont have an agenda. But without knowing the details of anything your slamming one company over another, and you have nothing other than speculation. I'm doing the same thing you are, I'm just on the other team.

I’ve been happy with the hlg prods i have, and with the service they have provided when i had issues with their products.

It probably doesn't matter to them, but i will go out of my way, and gladly spend more than I would otherwise have to, purchasing hlg competitor products, unless/until they work out a reasonable biz arrangement with Timber.

QBs are a category killer that all thoughtful non-qb vendors have to be worried about. There is plenty of room for companies like hlg and timber. Totally fucking stupid move on hlg’s part.

Fuck em!

"highly valuable" is not a term I would use either.

Someone on previous page suggested that I do not have a clue.
They will be oblivious to the many years I toiled in an engineering workshop a few decades ago.

HLG550 and 300 = robust quality construction, not cheap to manufacture
24SAM & 48SAM = delicate fixture, cheap material cost, brain turned off when designed
35SAM & Redwood SAM = yeah, that`s better

I’ll take my two 48sams over a 550 any day!

And, judging from what happened here, hlg is scared about others feeling the same.

If you become even more disgusted and remove the QB288`s, attack them with a hammer etc, could you please film it & upload to youtube.

a lot of shade on HLG from people who know nothing about what's going on. (I dont claim to...). business is business and im sure both companies are looking after their own best interests first.
Shade on people who know more about what’s going on than you do?
