ok, you guys have seen the tubs, they are a 15g rim full. water level stays at ten gal, 5 in the res, i dump once a day to check/alter ph. the water is recirculated continuously from the res, and back through the over flow in the center of the plant container.

there are two strains, three phenos in this experiment; two matanuska thunderfuck (1), two matanuska thunderfuck (2) and two afghan. the afghan are a couple weeks older than the mtf, and have a little root rot from transfer... so, they have been chopped back, top and roots, to stay at a more level growth rate with the mtf.

i'll be vegging these longer than i will the real attempt, as i have more room to do so, and do not have the time to spare. i need my meds, and i'm still trying to find a way to supply myself for under 1000w....

i have studied hydro systems extensively, and i have a pretty good feel for all of them; this is a combo of flood and drain and recirculating dwc. and sog to boot :D this just goes to show you what you can do when you want to... some of you remember my dog food bucket? :p

as for the particulars:

8 23w cfl's
mylar and white plastic walls
3'' net cups
gravel as medium
gh three part
cal/mag
superthrive
ph up
ph down
an hammerhead
florakleen
3 6'' tornado bubblestones
1 3way gangvalve
60g air pump (wally :p)
1/2'' black vinyl tubing
1/4'' black vinyl tubing
3 1/2'' id gromets
valve
302gph water pump
15g tall black res

so, pix talk louder, right?

here you can see the cut back afghans, took em to a node

wow! you're like the crazy cat lady. only instead of cats, it's plants, LOL!!!!!
you have no idea babe, really you don't

as for what gygax said, mtf is one strain than likes a frost or two (or several...); as a matter of fact, max resin and thc will not be achieved unless the plant freezes a couple of times...

woah! frosty plants? hmmm. i have been contemplating moving to alaska recently :D
i know, i saw :p

there's lots of good people in ak, but lots of unfriendly ones too. and remember, even 110 year old grammas have rifles and shotguns.... i think ak is the most well armed state in the us, seriously.

skunk, i'm trying to get in contact with the manufacturer of these containers; they are made locally, somewhere....

i've been toying with the idea of marketing this setup. the greatest thing is, it's like the waterfarm system; you can add or drop a bucket very easily, as they can be independently ran. it would work well for a two week cycle, 18 clones every two weeks; you could take out the harvest container, and ad in a fresh one!

if you have any ideas for helping me develope this idea, i'd much appreciate it!

love, kp

what are we hoping for here? 3 pound harvest?

pound per tub... just under an ounce per plant...

doesn't seem too impossible...
best of luck my friend!!!

I can't wait to see that in full swing!

You can't beat those $10 60 gal wal-mart pumps. I've got 3 of 'em pumpin air through 6 14" air stones into a 20 gallon res. So far so good.

if i can manage a half ounce per plant, i'll be doing ok; one ounce per plant and i'll have met my goal, and will never change it.

i'm realistically hoping for 3/4 oz per plant

they're nice, but imo a hassle in a big project; i'm looking for ways to eliminate some plugs and wires, too much stuff doing too little.

i'm looking at general hydroponics' air pump and one on ebay (112w industrial)

hydroempire has a submersible air pump rated for 115 gallons. The pump draws air in through a hose that extends above the waterline.

Hydroempire, Organic Hydroponic Nutrients, Indoor Grow Lights and Supplies - Hydor Ario 4 Aerator - $49.95

I'm wondering if this would be a solution for my bathtub resy. I might get 2. I've found them cheaper other places, but I've bought from this store before.

Oh snap! That looks like some serious power there.

You think two of those from bgh would be enough to oxy a bathtub res?
I'm seriously losing sleep over trying to figure out the best way to do this effectively. I have to order something within the week and I'm not afraid to spend some money.

i think one of those from bghydro would do a bathtub; they are four outlet, and the air supply is supposed to be 2.75 times greater per outlet than the walmart air pumps.

i'm still thinking about the bigger one, it's piston driven... think it would be loud?

also, the gh pump has an upside; they sell rebuild kits for it ;)

I managed to get 3 q's from 2 plants without a single day of veg'. As soon as the clones rooted I put them into the medium. 3 into a bubbler, 2 hydro. The 2 hydro's didn't do very well, and one of the bubblers ended up smaller than the hydro's.

BUT, 2 of the bubblers really took off, and I harvested 3 q's between the two of them. I honestly feel that a two week veg in a bubbler could net you an oz per plant.
