Cutting the top half of the plant????

Is it possible to cut the top half of your plant down, but leave the bottom half growing??? the reason why i ask is because its coming to the end of my plants flowering period, and its got some fat nice compact nugs from the top to about half way down and i would say about 50% of the hairs have turned red/brown. The lower buds i would say are only about 10-20% turned colour, and still look like they could do with another week or two. My plant is about 1.3 meter tall and im using a 250w hps, so i think that the bottom buds are not getting enough light, all reply's appreciated, can anyone help?

Yes, this is done all the time. In fact, after you cut the upper buds, then take the lower ones after they ripen, you can leave a little green on the bottoms of the plants, then reveg them for another go-round. This is done when cuttings aren't taken from the plants and the grower decides that he likes the smoke so much that he has to save the strain.

thanks vi, didn't even know that was possible? Do you cut the stem half way down? or just cut the buds at the bottom of the branch?

if i was gonna do this i would cut the main stem right down to the stems you wanna keep growin!! no point in using energy and goodness on a stem with no bud on it

One other thing.....if you plan to re-veg, make sure you leave some of thise small buds in place, because that's where the new growth will sprout from.

I have some friends who tried doing this and said they really didn't notice much of a difference letting the lower buds grow a bit longer. You have to remember that when you make such a severe cut to the plant, its hormones get super jacked up and it's not going to grow the same way it once was. Go ahead and give it a shot, but don't expect amazing results.
