Im two or three weeks from harvest and i wa told you can cut your lighting hours down to eight hours from the twelve. Is this true and if so what are the benifits of this apart from cheaper lekky bills.

Cheers..

I have heard you can do this.

It stimlates shorter and shorter nights. Supposably making the mj plant fear for its life and increase resin production. The reduced amount of light may stimulate ripening by activating a difensive mechanisim.

Then agian...

Some argue that it robs the plants of energy needed to ripen.

i have also heard about that. some strains it actually helps them ripen sooner but it in turn lowers the yield.
i downloaded a couple of videos on how to grow. in one of them they even encouraged that in the last 2 weeks to turn the light up to 14 hours on time and its suppose to pack on the weight.
i have not tried either way, i just stay to 12/12

All it does is ripen your plants 2-3 weeks earlier, but cuts down yield. This is only recommednded for growers on a time sensitive grow....
